Dadgummit!
I was priming these .308 cases with some primers i got long ago and do not use any more.
CCI # 34.
I was getting a lot of loos fitting ones so loose i could tap the case head on the table and the primer would fall out!!

Got to measuring the primer pocket diameter and was getting .210 give or take a 1/4 of a hair.
Measured the primer that fell out .209" measured another on the bench .209" and another .209".
Got out my CCI 200's and measured them .211" on all measured.
I dumped 12 more CCI 34's onto the table and began measuring all of them.
.309" .311" .311" .310" .309" ...OK these were bought years ago during the
Aammo scare.
QC missed on that batch.

I bet they would work well in LC .308 cases those primer pockets are stupid tight in the ones I had. Yes Had..Things never shot good I had 500 of LC 15 .308.
An RCBS primer pocket swager was of no use even 2 times into each primer hole you could not hardly get a primer in without crushing it.
Ended up using an old timer pocket knife to chamfer the hole and that was better.

I found 1 primer so far in that 100 count that measured .207".
I gave all my primed bras cases a tap tap tap on the edge of the case head to see if primers would fall out .
I had 3 fall out.
Those may not even be happy in a non swaged case. :)

That sucks Gunbuffer.
I had some speedy loads that punished primer pockets.

I Dropped the load to 41-42gr Varget or IMR 4064 with 165 gamekings and cci 200's.
I got 18 reloads from them before case head separation going with FLS. Much more life neck sizing.
I got some loose primer pockets after first firing of Lapua .308 and a full house load with 168gr bullets.
Can't run as hot in the Lapua cases as the winchesters.. That load was 46gr or so.
44gr in winchester with the 165 gameking HPBT was a sweet spot in my savage .308

After I got the RCBS swage tool I just run all the brass through it. If there isn't at least a certain amount of pressure to pop the piece off I cull it. Probably tossed some brass that would work fine but still IMHO not worth messing around with. Also never have to worry about having a piece of brass with a crimped primer pocket making it through. It's an extra step but not something I want to deal with.

You’re correct, if you hot rod Lapua brass like you can Winchester or Remington you’re likely to ruin primer pockets, have a catastrophic failure or both....I did in a Savage 260.

You have a LOT more case rim to hold that primer in that WSM case even more than
small primer .308 cases have. I bet that wsm is quick.

I got 9 reloads from aluminum 45acp cases with 200gr lee aloxed bullet
and 4.2gr bullseye powder before I seen a speck of black on the edge of the primer pocket..little bit of seepage.

Yea I will test all kinds of things.

It runs 2900-3000 fps depending on bullet weight but mainly in the 2900-2950 fps. I have 240 pieces of wsm brass and 50 are still in an unopened bag. I don’t necessarily baby my brass but I try to take care of it. The last 100 pieces of Winchester brass I bought cost me $212. I don’t think you can find Winchester 7wsm brass anymore now.
