I haven't tried it yet, but a northern fisherman told me about a silicone spray for the rod to keep ice from sticking.

I googled up some results. A silicone paste is made just for this purpose and some use Chapstick, or Burt's Bee's lip balm as an alternative. Some also recommend a can of Pam cooking spray or generic equivalent. I think the spray would be the easiest application. I think I will throw a can in the boat to have just in case I am able to make it out again in freezing temps.

Yes she whupped up on me, but only because I gave her my lure! Fish in order are 5-0; 5-0; 6-2; 6-14 and 2-13. Her first fish was a PB and so were the next two, so three records broken in one day!

Very nice GTG! That one bass must not do squats, it doesn't have much tail.
Bassin - Do you think something bit the one bass's tail due to the bleeding??? I would understand if the missing piece was on the bottom due to spawning activity, but from the top????
I'm going with a bite possibly or a genetic defect.
I think it it is gill blood/water mix that has dribbled down the body of fish and is an old wound on the tail.
It could very well be the tail is curved toward the camera giving the illusion of it being weird.
