Best brand for Cordless Drill (Replacing old Sears)

18V in any of these (in no particular order) are all GTG, IMO. Even if you decide to add other tools that use the same batteries.

Rigid
Milwaukee
Dewalt
Bosch

Just pick a brand you like and get a deal on.

I have the 24 volt Kobalt and really have had good luck with it. Lower battery cost is a big plus.

Yessir and the over the counter customer service since it’s Lowe’s home brand. Rigid being HomeDepots brand may offer the same benefits. Lowe’s is much closer to me so there’s that.

Good timing on the thread. I need to buy a new drill this week. I have a big Dewalt 18v set and just wanted to note that if you buy the new 20v lithium drill they make an adapter to use the new batteries in your old 18v gear. Pretty cool because I use the grinder and sawzall in my old kit quite a bit but didn't want to buy old NiCad batteries.

Mine too. I got a drill/impact set on sale at HD and just stuck with them. Personally I think Dewalt and Milwaukee are in a battle for the top of the heap, but Rigid is not far behind at all. Mine have been great. Bosch has some really good stuff too.

I have a crap ton of Ridgid and have never had to put that warranty to the test.

I did go with bosche for 12v drivers, impact driver and drill. They are lighter than the ridgid 12v models.

I do use the Ridgid 12v JobMax system. LOVE it

I have used the Ridgid warranty on a sander(several times), it is very nice to go in and pick up a new tool...

I'm all Dewalt, still use a bunch of my 18V tools with the 20V adapter sled. I do have the newer 12V set and it is my goto driver, drill and impact. Very light, very powerful, wish they made more tools in the Dewalt 12V line.

I went crazy with Dewalt 20V stuff but the real answer is whatever the respondent owns.

Started with a drill impact kit, now have two drills, a chain saw, hedge trimmer, blower, recep saw and some I'm probably forgetting.

I had a Bosch 18v and used it until the batteries went kaput and then bought a Dewalt 20v. The Dewalt is lighter, does the job for me and if it should fail I'll look in Rigid perhaps based on the warranty. The bottom line is what do you use it for, do you abuse the drill by working it above it's limits? I have heard that the Dewalt batteries have no memory so you can leave it in the charger for quite some time if you forget you're charging and it won't hurt the batteries.
