Is there any shade around your beds? I use to have 16 raised beds that were on the east side of some of my shade trees. The shade would hit about 6 in the evening so it made cooler picking and tending to my plants. Just a thought.

None other than our shadows, I suppose I might could employ yourself for a dual action scare crow and shade maker..:Heya: LOL..

We just bought a bale of straw at Atwoods
Only used about 1/2 of it, maybe less, in both of those beds.
If you get to Tulsa I will bag you up some.

I have to warn you, the straw we got at Atwoods was wheat and has lots of wheat kernals in it.
They popped up in about 2 or 3 days. Wheat growing everywhere!!!
So the wheat straw needs a good thrashing!!
