Few month ago my son had some one turn left in his right of way and totaled his 2002 ranger and we looked around and found a 96 ranger in Enid that he paid cash for. We went through the brakes , replaced 2 tie rod ends , bought a set of tires and aligned it and installed an alarm.
You can find good deals if you are willing to be OCD about checking craigslist.
Did not really need to replace the front hubs on the brakes but he had a grind in the front end when braking we could not find.......... It was just the brand new cheap brake pads the previous owner installed............ spend and learn!!!
The 96 he has now is definitely a better vehicle than his 2002 was.

Totally understand. As for reliability, I really would rather just buy it and never worry about her being stranded somewhere. But we don't have "reliability" money, we have "I think I know what that noise it, I'll fix it" money.
I completely understand. That's how it was when I bought my sons suv. I replaced his fuel pump, radiator, crank sensor, and managed a Freon leak for years. With my daughter, I was blessed with a little more disposable income.

With my sons fuel pump, it took for ever to figure it out. It was intermittent and would not cause problems when I was around his car. Finally, on a weekend when he came home it wouldn't start, all it would do is crank. That's when I noticed the pump didn't engage. I was a happy camper to find out there was an access panel to take the pump out.

Lmao 95% of Facebook is bad grammar.

True. Still would advise caution. :)

+1 on caution...

I'd toss out there the value of my first vehicle. Late 90's/early 00's Ford Ranger. Terry knows I'd never praise a Ford product, but those trucks with the 2.3L 4-cylinder would give the Hilux a run for their money in terms of dependability. Bigger props for 5-speed. Good mileage too. They tend to be found in that price range.

It smells like a scam.
1. Lister is not the one selling it. (Supposedly)
2. Poor grammar. Even the word capitalization is inconsistent.
3. Undervalued.
4. Only contact is an email address.

At least we know the dash and rear seat are in good condition. Who cares about the engine, right?
