Need a little help from some of you more knowledgeable than I about these things. I have a decent grill and a nice griddle and a cheap electric smoker. I see guys on Youtube on some cooking channels that don't talk about their gear too much. What I think I see is what looks like a pellet smoker that looks like and can act like a grill and is controlled with a "thermostate". Temp ranges from 200* to 500* or more all in one package. Is there such a beast or have used too much hand sanitizer and it's affecting my brain?

Is there an "all in one" type of Smoker, grill type deal i should be looking at? I really have no idea where to start. Thanks in advance.

Yes some pellet grills have an adjustable opening directly over the fire box to allow for searing if needed. I've yet to cook on or eat meat smoked on a pellet smoker/grill that even remotely compares to a stick burner though.

My RecTec pellet grill will go over 500 degrees, can go under 200 to smoke if I want. All controlled from an app, or the controls on the grill.

It is not a charcoal grill though, for us it works fine, if you are used to a Hasty Bake you wont like it.

For smoking it is outstanding, I have sear plates for grilling that work well for adding nice sear marks too.

I looked at Yoder as well, they are overpriced IMO.

I've got a Traeger and a Yoder. Yoders are great, but not cheap. RecTec is highly thought of in the pellet grill world, as well. Grilla is also good.

A kamodo is a decent option you can do most of those things with, as well. With a good Weber kettle and something like a Slow'N'Sear, you have a ton of options, too, if you prefer to use charcoal.

I could talk about this stuff for hours, if you have other specific questions, I'd be happy to help.

If you are not set on using pellets, then your answer is YES, there are smoker/grills out there that do it all.

Big Green Egg, Kamado Joe, etc.

I've done 20 hour smokes, grilled burgers and dogs and about everything else you can think up, seared steaks, even cooked cobbler in my BGE and if I ever buy a pizza stone I'll be doing that too. This winter I'll be cold smoking my own bacon and ham instead of hot smoking it. I've found that 500 degrees is "iffy" for searing steaks, a bit more is better and you aren't going to get that with a pellet grill that I've ever seen.

$30 torch does the best job EVAR for searing. EVAR.
