While he was right in his thinking. This is like the woman taking a beating the other day when telling the woman to put a mask on. If you run your trap be ready for the slap. Not saying it right but its the way it is today. Don't unnecessarily provoke people.

When people sweep you with a gun do you "not unnecessarily provoke them" ? Not being a smart ass just want you to think about what the woman was doing. People need to be called on the floor for putting other peoples life in danger!! She was texting in a 2000lb sledge hammer !!

If you put yourself in a place where you are going to be swept with a gun. I would say again think about your life choices and consequences.

I gave up my last motorcycle in 2006 after almost getting hit twice in about 5 miles by what appeared to be teenage female drivers paying more attention to their phones than what lane they happened to be in.

This is what I tell my wife and daughters . . . and even have to remind myself of it sometimes. You never know what crazy person you're going to meet up with on the road these days.
Seems like most fall into 3 classifications -1. Drunk -2. doped-up or 3. got a chip on their shoulder and a camera in their pocket.

Back in the late 90's and early to mid 2000's I used to ride quite a bit on my Goldwings and I knew a fella that always carried some steel ball bearings with him when he rode his bike that were reserved just for tailgaters.......he said discretely drop a few going down the road and you'd be surprised how quickly tailgaters will get off your a$$.

I heard sparkplugs will bounce up and do all kinds of things when dropped from a Harley at 70 mph. But that's probably just a rumor.

I once rode beside OHP Trooper 097 while he texted with both hands and steered his cruiser with his knees. Until if and when the texting while driving laws are enforced people are going to continue to kill themselves and others. I haven’t ridden for 2 years but saw a lot of idiots doing stupid things in cars. The law was originally passed because of a trooper’s death. A shame it’s seldom enforced.

Two things:

1. 097 is typically reserved for brass ... And
2. Depending on how long ago this was I can guarantee that number has been recycled so if anyone goes to look up who 097 is the Trooper they see is probably not the Trooper you have the beef with.

And I haven't ridden since I hooked up with Grumpy. Not because he hasn't been willing to get a bike but because even back then cagers were too goofy around here. That plus my Neuro told me I was playing with way more fire than the average bear because my neck is so flimsy. Figured he might know what he was talking about so ... I still miss it though.

In all honestly how is looking at a laptop at speed any different than texting?

I have no clue. Seems if my nav system locks me out while my vehicle is moving (and it does) their computers ought to lock them out. It's not like they don't have radios.

Oh if I ruled the world ...
