15 chicks and wings say 7 roosters and 8 hens.. We have 25 more coming this next week.. Those are the much anticipated chicks, heritage Cornish also in white.. Heritage Cornish are on the rare side and I could see making a venture out of producing them.. Cross the 2 breeds and you have what is todays fastest growing meat bird the Cornish X.. Heritage cornish pictured..

The new birds are doing great, the 15 Plymouth white rock layers we ordered look to be 7 roos and 8 hens, zero loss..
The meat birds turned out not to be the heritage Cornish I hoped for but are a Cornish cross that is sustainable.. Lot of genetics out there now with many that may have been created with AI, I suspect... Zero loss there too but I haven't figured out the sex ratio yet.. Quite happy with both types, with any luck the white rocks will start laying by Valentines day.. The broilers should start laying by April and we'll hatch out our own meat birds.. We'll keep 2 roos and 8 hens of each which should keep us in meat and eggs..

A friend of mine gave away a couple roosters the other day. The lady that picked them up put them in back seat with an upside cardboard box over em. I don't know how well that worked.
The lady didn't look to have been recently tree-whacked, did she? :lookaroun
