Interesting indeed.............
It puts everyone in a box, surrounds them with like minded messages, and creates the illusion of "I'm right and therefore my means to an end are justified". It kills empathy and any hope of actual dialogue or two way communication. Everyone just digs in. We see it on display here on OSA and all over the interwebs every day.
We'll see where it goes.

Exactly how the algorithms at Facespace and other platforms work. If you were to look at a conservative persons newsfeed it will be full of posts from Breitbart, Fox, OAN to help reinforce they're in the majority of thinking because the algorithms feed you what you like to keep you coming back so they can convince potential advertisers how much traffic they can guarantee so their ads will be seen. Yet the exact same will be true for a liberal persons page, full of msnbc, cnn, and other liberal headlines that will reinforce their mindset.

Social media is evil and dividing the country more and more.

Interesting indeed. The funny thing about the echo chamber effect is that people I know on the Progressive side think that it is only a factor for the Right. They are constantly wailing about the amplification of right-wing hatred blah blah...but they don't realize that their own movement is being steered by the same tools.

100% actuate, my man.

Best case: We continue to have groups of people shouting at each other across protest lines.

Worst case: We have a another actual civil war, and lots of people die.

Or...

Sometimes the only winning move is not to play. We all need to take a break from the echo chambers like social media and cable/internet news and learn how to talk to each other again. Especially with those with whom we disagree.

I believe the world would be a better place for it.

LOL. No this isn't social media. It's a safe place for fuds to virtue signal how they don't use FB or Twitter and that they are immune from the effects of the echo chamber and AI steering.
Obviously your one of the fuds to virtue signal since your on here. LOL. :pms2:If you don't like it gtfo the forum and quit denigrating the people that post here.

I actually post from liberal sites as much as possible or sites from over the pond that don't have our politics involved. They just report the news. It's rare that I post from Fox or other conservative sites because the left always shoots themselves in the foot at one point or another in their own reporting.
I don't have issues producing links from conservative sites but it makes a much stronger point to post from one of their own to counter their point.

Watched it today; good show. Can't say I heard anything I hadn't already thought was going on, but it's good to hear if from people in the industry.
I caught a little bit of a anti-capitalism vibe from one guy towards the end, but not too bad.

And who knows, maybe the way out of the mess is some kind of modified capitalism. I don't really think so, but I'm open, just haven't heard anything better yet.
