Just fired up my generator for the first time in probably 2 or 3 years. I knew it would run, but wasn't sure it would generate. Put fresh gas in and it started on the 2nd pull and pulled a load with my heat gun and air compressor just fine. So I let it warm up good and dropped the oil and poured in fresh Amsoil synthetic. Ready to go now as soon as refill my gas can which will guarantee I won't need it at all. Coleman Powermates are purty good! :thumb:

Raining but ain’t freezing over here in Inola. This ain’t the weather we need right now. We’ve got 320 calves to ship in the morning and this weather is gonna shrink em pretty good I’m sure. Buyer might like that but it sure won’t help us.

We were going to send our calves this weekend but this rain and ice will see they get held over at least another week or so.

View attachment 178360 My 2 year old maple. Not sure its gonna make it through the night
I’m having a house built. We have to have a tree in the yard per code/HOA. I’m trying to figure out which maple or oak turns that maroon color this time of year. Maybe both do. Can the tree experts help out here?

I cannot remember it ever getting like this in October before. But I don’t mind. I’m sick to the warm weather. But it would be nice to have a normal fall for once.

Popped up in my Facebook memories over the weekend. Had a full on snow storm in Lawton this time in 13 or 14.

For the record, a "full on snow storm" that stopped all of the town and Fort Sill was just over four inches of snow.

If this one doesnt survive I'm replacing with a Pin Oak. They turn red, orange and yellow IIRC and they are much more resilient to ice storms and high wind. Get a box of waste cuttings from the butcher and put that under the tree during planting and it will grow 2-3 times faster. I knew a guy who had horses and he would have to put an old horse down sometimes. He'd get his backhoe and dig a grave, burry the horse and plant an oak tree on top. You could see his trees and tell exactly which ones had a horse buried under because it was twice as big as the others planted before it.
