I did same thing with a $500 colaman genset and wired into the breaker. Sure I had to feed it 11 gal of fuel in 24 hours but pfft. It ran 7 days straight back in 2007 and a few other times for a day or 2 and was well worth the money. In 2003 mom and dad were without permanent power at the farm over 30 days. I was without over 1 week and lost all our food in the fridge and freezer. I said to myself, self, ainna gonna happen agin. Called Faith Electric and took advantage of their finance program. We paid it off 5 years early. It has been on now for over 11 hours straight. No filling it with gas, no manual switching and we are warm and toasty watching TV not worrying about food in the fridge. We are an island with power and our neighbors are dark. We have also invested in a fraidy hole, a new roof and now all new windows and doors before Christmas.
Wife has gotten me to buy ammo whenever we can and is thinking about getting another gun for herself. Whaddawoman!
