I JUST burnt my “giant” stack of brush and limbs two weeks ago. Now I have 3-4x that which is too much to burn.. ugh.
Thankful our power came back on last night. I just have a small inverter gen so I was able to power one fridge, a lamp, and a small heater. We stayed comfortable with the fireplace, but no substitute for central heat!

I lost power in Ripley about 1:00 PM on Monday afternoon,,,
It came back on Wednesday night at about 7:30 PM,,,
That was a tease as it went off again around 8:30.

Thursday morning I still had no power,,,
I too have a TON of branches and limbs to saw up.

I hate Oklahoma weather!

I really need to get a small generator just for the fridge and TV/DVD,,,
I'll lose about $200 worth of thawed out meat on this storm.

Did I mention I HATE Oklahoma weather?

Still out of electricity since 2pm yesterday. Electric company just gave me a update another 48hrs. Suppose to have help coming today. They have restored about a third of the outages. I will be one of the last ones, go thru this everytime on the end of system. So I am prepared fireplace going generator running. The only bad thing is no water, on well water separate meter away from the house. But we will make it.

Here, but occasionally There.
Wife and I went to vote early today in Edmond. Polling place there is the Edmond Church of Christ on Bryant, south of Second Street. It is actually on Bryant and 9th Street. As we were leaving, I headed west on 9th Street. Along the way were a lot of old trees damaged. One that I noticed had limbs that were at least about a foot thick, and ALL were broken off. The only thing left of that tree was a branchless trunk about 10-foot tall.

Power has been out since Tuesday morning at 9, except for a 3 hour tease Tuesday night.

My small (2700 watt) gen has been running almost non stop since. It's enough to run the fridge, freezer, a very small heater on low, and a couple LED bulbs.

I shut the gen down at noon for another fuel fill - every 2 hours, blasted thing has a 2 quart tank - and changed the oil. I'll change it every 2 days, next stop is noon Saturday.

Sad to see the tree pictures, we are far enough east to have missed the ice unlike a big mess several years ago that really did a number on the hack berry trees we have.

Bought a 5500 watt generator due to a predicted ice event several years ago. Ended up not needing it that year but a few years later I was sure glad to have it. It will run everything we need including the central heat. Has a 5 gal tank and will run for about 8 hours. Just a real pain to hook up and keep feeding. With me basically couch bound if we would have lost power we would not have much of a choice but to find a motel.

I have thought about buying a generator, and my wife keeps wanting a whole house, automagic generator... but the truth is our power seems to usually be back on quickly. Even the big ice storm several years ago when people were without power for a week or more, I think ours was off for about an hour. In fact I can't remember it ever being off more than about 3 hours. So I've never bought one, unfortunately that time you DO need it, you can't just run out and buy one then.
