The one on I have is a 355T, they have a tiny little monster called the 2511T (which is stupid light like 5 lbs) I may buy one of those because they are so cool. The 355T is pretty close to the Stihl 200T in size and feel (but not cost).

I spoke to my cousin who's a commercial landscaper, and he has a 2511T that he's been running all day and loves.

I have a few 041’s, 044 / 440 magnum is nasty but the old 090 or the 880 magnum was their BEAST.... you’d better be built like Devon Laratt I’d you wanna sling one of those around. I have taken out 3 foot diameter trees with a 362 if I cant get it down with a 362 I dont’ take it down lol

I'm looking at ordering a 362 cm. Need it to get a huge 8 foot wide stump cut down and cut a large tree that fell in the lake. I think I'm prob going well overboard but I will always have enough saw.

Well as much as I love the 362........ an 8 foot diameter stump might be a stretch for a 362 max bar is 25 inches. I took out a huge willow with it but I left the stump 6 foot up (because it has some fence grown through it) I burrowed a hole in the middle and burn it up with charcoal little by little.

In all honesty the 362 is my first new stihl in quite some time. It is my first M-tronic as well. What I can say about it now is that it’s one hell of a bucking saw. But I have only put down one large tree and a few small ones. But that large tree was a willow with some nasty leans. So I used shallow notch, bore cut behind the hinge and left a strap (which is usually a pain in the ass to do) but with the 362 the whole process was quick and painless. My sons were there asking why I was bore cutting it so I cut one with a regular notch so they could see what a barber chair looked and why they are so dangerous. So although I say it is one hell of a bucking saw (and it is) the few times I have really tested it in challenging wood, it blew through it like sauce through a goose.

@emapples, when you say “bore cut,” do you mean a plunge cut? Are you a logger or arborist?
I am neither but a plunge and a bore cut are pretty much the same, I used bore in this instance because it was part of the felling process and you have to bore precisely behind the hinge (leaving it intact and uniform) then move away from the notch leaving just enough strap (sometimes they call it a trigger) so it really is more like precision boring. Then when you are ready to drop it you just cut the trigger/strap/holding wood. Whatever term you want to use.

Ah ok. I’ve watched a bunch of YT videos about felling trees, and “plunge cut” is the term I’ve heard used for the process you described. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing out on a new-to-me method.

Well this thread had sparked my urge to buy a new saw again. I been thinking bout it for a couple years. I been back and forth between the 261 and 362. Decided to go to the bigger side. I just bought a Stihl 362cm with 20” bar. Also bought a 25” bar and chain just in case. Lol. Picture is with the 20”. Also a pick of my 029 with a 16” bar. I got it used about 15 years ago and it was far from new then.

Nice! I’ve heard great things about the M-tronic feature. I’ll be curious to know what you think of it after you’ve used the saw a while.

... but I don’t see any trees in your pics ;)
