My 20 some year old Poulan pole chain saw gave up the ghost today. Don't think there is enough compression left to keep it running. I jerked on that rope until I was exhausted. The engine just turns over without any feeling of compression. Just a smooth pull.
So went to Lowes and bought a Craftsman pole chain saw. It came with an adapter to start it with a cordless drill motor.
No more jerking a rope! Little adapter is under $10. Well worth it.

Dennis, those Poulans had a problem with the 4 bolts that attach the cylinder head coming loose.

I have a stihl and hate it. So I bought a husqvarna 455 rancher and I’m very impressed with it. That sucker runs and runs. It’s a 20”. I would go with echo first then husqvarna. Good luck.

Sadly, if you need it soon (and I assume you do), you may have to buy whatever you can find!

I don't need another one, but I have a devious plan in mind, and I'll start looking around the first week of December.

I've got a couple thousand $'s worth of stihl saws and weed eaters and such. If I can find one the next saw I buy is going to be an Echo.
