I'll soon be selling a few of my hand guns. Top shelf and I'll be fair on the prices

Ha. My wife and I have no one to pass them down to as all our assets will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (Our daughter was a Juv. diabetic). My guns would get jumbled up by the assessor and auction company (like they do). I have nephews but they wouldn't have the love and care I have for them. Plus, my sisters and brother in-laws have done very well as did their kids.
So I going to down size slowly. I have some friends I'm giving a couple of old collectors because they appreciate them. I'll sell a Kimber 45 and Springfield 9mm first. These are no dogs. Top shelf. Then I'll have to kind of pick and choose.
Proud of myself because I gave one of my 22 rifles to a friend in Georgia's son. That was so cool. His first gun and made me very happy. Had an old man I used to shoot 22's with from his porch but he passed recently. I'll really miss my friend but wanted to give him one of my Ruger 22/45's. I'll give one of those away but the one I've had since it was new, I'll keep.
As you can see.....this is hard and someday you'll know what I'm talking about....Ha.
Anyway, prayers for all of you and our country.

While your downsizing; take some of your money and buy a .22lr conversion kit for your CZ Shadow2:

Shadow2 - 27 Nov.jpg

It not really another handgun -- It is more like a accessory !!!!!!

Good Luck on your quest to downsize !!!!!!!

I’ll have to make this decision one day.
One son in his youth made some mistakes and can’t own guns and his kids have no desire to own them as they have been indoctrinated by the school system. He is a good quality citizen now as a small business owner.
Other son is handicapped due to an accident and can’t handle them.
So, I have to figure out what to do down the road.
My guns are my most personal possessions. Every one I have has had some research done on them concerning the history of the firearm in a journal I keep.

Good luck to Steelfingers getting this figured out. I still haven’t.

I have seen you and others mention doing something like this before. I have a record of all my guns. I like that idea, so this morning I started writing histories for all of mine.

My 47 year old son from my first marriage and I (he lives in Georgia) aren't all that close because his mom and I split when he was around three then I bounced around overseas several years and lost touch with him and his mom for about 14 years so when you come right down to it my son and I don't really know each other......the last time I saw him and met his wife and my three grandkids for the first time (the oldest was already in his last year of high school) was around 2007.

I showed him several of my guns during his day and a half visit and told him that when I pass that my current wife (of 44+ years) had already been instructed by me to give him all of my guns and he told me thanks anyway but that he had a 30-06 rifle, 12 ga. shotgun, .22 rifle for small game and plinking, a .357 revolver and a 9mm semi auto and that was all he wanted or needed.

My current and I never had kids by choice so now knowing after talking to my son that I had no heirs to leave my guns to I began slowly selling things off when I retired in 2015.....the higher dollar guns were sold first like my two Pythons, Colt Sauer rifles, Browning shotguns, Colt SAA handguns, Colt 1911's, wood presentation boxed S & W's etc.

I've still got a double handful of nice guns left but nothing overly expensive or that I'd call rare or collectable.....surprisingly even though I wanted them when I bought them none the guns I sold are really missed all that much.

What I have left are my "keepers" and the wife will just have to dispose of them the best she can when I'm gone and after she passes our wills designate all of our remaining assets get split 50-50 between two different local animal organizations.

Watched more than once how painful/annoying it can be to get rid of some persons collection after they pass, no matter what it is, guns, knives, cars, baskets, coins, quilts, etc. Also watched how annoyed my grandmother was none of us wanted her “very valuable” stuff. The only value to us, was that it was hers.

I hope to do it like my grandpa, spend the last 10 years or so just giving stuff away to friends and family. He told us the history, etc of the stuff. I found that incredibly valuable.
