A friend of mine last week purchased a Bul Armory SAS II TAC Commander - double stack 1911 from RainierArms.com. I happened to be at the gun shop when he came in to do his transfer. I'd never heard Bul Armory before that day. I got to put a magazine through it, and I'll tell you I was seriously impressed with that 19+1 double stack 1911. So much so that I had questioned whether or not to order the Government sized model right then and there. I think I made the right choice by not ordering because I lucked into my new Dan Wesson this past weekend.

They actually have a few in stock right now, but with Christmas and my own gun buying spree over the past few weeks, I've spent enough money already this month. If it's still available in a month or so, I'll start looking seriously at it.

I had a full size Wilson Combat CQB 9mm a few years ago and ended up selling it, because it was just a range gun for me. I prefer 45 in a full size steel frame 1911.
A few months ago, I slipped up on a super deal on a Wilson Combat Ultralight Carry Compact 9mm. The previous owner hadn’t completed “break in” process, and it had some slide lock failures at first. After about 250 rounds, it started functioning 100%, and it’s probably the easiest shooting handgun I own and now my main carry gun.

If you’re looking for a “range gun”, I sure wouldn’t spend Wilson Combat money, because Dan Wessons are dang good guns at a more than fair price...ie you get more bang for your buck.

I’d second this, I forgot about the Wilson, for the money, I’d go Dan Wesson!

Many years ago I foolishly let go of a Colt series 70 in 9mm. I've seen very few and I have seen even less for sale. A very fine handgun. If I could ever find another one I'd trade my series 70 in .45 in a heartbeat. I have a RIA in 9mm now its a fine gun. Accurate and low recoil. Very reliable.

I've never shot a 9mm 1911, but I'm sure it would be great from any maker.
I've been keeping my eye open for a .40 S&W caliber 1911 if anyone has any leads.
