We can do that Brother.. We might even cut the gurl in so that she's on the same playing field as us.. Providing she's not run over with a lawnmower or something between now and then..

Ha, I owe her many cuttings already! With her luck, I hope that Santa brought her a new bubble-wrap outfit.

Typically you take the cutting(scion) around this time of year. There are a couple of reasons, One, you don't want to expose the parent plant/tree to open wounds too early to let virus/ bacteria in. Second, You don't want to wait too late and have the scion damaged by the weather/ freeze damage.

OSU had a good episode on rooting hormone that talked about the different levels of active ingredient and what applications that calls for it.

Wow dude! You have been busy. I should go get cuttings off my fig bush and blackberries in the morning??

I would make sure that the fig cutting have not froze. I have never stored fig cuttings. Since I have a greenhouse, I normally just put them in a soilless mix to begin the rooting. Same with blackberry.

You can store cutting in the crisper of your refrigerator in a sealed ziploc bag. Put a paper towel in with the cutting that has been misted with water. Just don't soak it. You want just enough moisture to keep the cuttings from drying out but not wet enough to develop mold.
