I know this forum is small when compared to places like Snipershide and Long Range Hunting forum; which you could say are both national/international sites but those sites have advertisements from many of the shooting sports industry leaders. Often representatives or owners from companies like Manners Gun Stocks, Vortex, Bushnell, etc. chime in to answer customer questions or give updates of coming new products.

Now I’m not expecting this type service from Okla. Shooters Assoc. but why isn’t there support from Oklahoma companies like many of shooting ranges, firearm shops, gunsmiths, etc.? We’ve had Ryan Sears from Gene Sears Shooting Sports on here promoting Banner Range but other than that very little repeat action. We have two premier custom rifle smiths here in Oklahoma, Jon Beanland and Stewart Rifles but most wouldn’t know it. Has the site owner reached out to locally owned shooting sport businesses to seek advertisement and/or participation in this forum? I would think a business owner would like to interact here giving information on sales, deliveries, new products, etc.

Maybe the site traffic here is considered too small to generate customers for locally owned businesses or the traffic that is generated is more related to politics, general discussion, and stupid stuff therefore negating businesses interest in advertising here?

100% agree. I stated something similar about local businesses. Which are vastly underrepresented here, unlike this sites major competitor Armslist. I do think there just isn't enough user base to warrant them being active on here. But its a 2 way street. Contacting them is the first step in a mutually symbiotic relationship.

@Okuma I guess my other question is since you have talked about costs of running the site. Are you prepared if your host decides to shut you down like ar-15 was recently? Lots of folks are coughing up multi-year donations. My concern is what is being done to make sure the site is viable and protected in 6 months. Also the more money now vs sustained yearly donations again concerns me for future viability and support. Reminds me of NRA. The site is yours to do with as you choose. If it's costing you 3k to keep a skin for software that is $160 a year plus plus $55 yearly update fees. You may want to consider a different skin that is free and requires less modofication. You can drop the pay mods for adds and save cash also.

Regardless I believe the fact my orgianl post has 20 likes so far shows people have an interest in seeing some type of restrictions added for new users to access the classifieds.

There's little to no chance of us being shut down by my host, he's a small company and very 2A friendly. What happened to ar15.com is their registrar decided to kick them off and they had to move it to another one (which is really crazy, I never thought hat would happen.) I'm currently looking into new registrars to insure that never happens to us.

The skin was just one example of the customizations needed. Another is the ability to accept credit cards through our platform, that has to be created from scratch. Also the classifieds system has to be made, etc. Once we're on the new system we should be good for at least 5 years, maybe longer.

Okuma Evidently I can’t respond to your message via PM, but I’d like to talk to you about advertising options.

I sent you a message.

In for a year this time. I've certainly gotten more value than that since joining.

@Okuma, have you considered an auto-pay option (annual/semi-annual/etc.)? Or is that more trouble than it's worth?

Just a thought.
:drunk2:

I've always disliked having to go in and cancel subscriptions to things so I've never really considered it for here.

In an earlier post I mentioned some stuff about advertising companies buying forums, I believe snipers hide is one they acquired so they run their ads on it. I'm not sure why we don't have more local companies advertising with us, but it's a problem that a lot of forum owners are seeing. I'm not sure if there are just better options out there for small companies like using google ads and facebook, or they just don't receive the expected returns from their ads on small forums. Their ads get seen a lot but it's a lot of repeat views from the same users and it doesn't actually generate any sales. I really don't know to be honest.

Let me correct you. YOU initiated things, as per usual, so you got your silky panties in a bunch and just had to open your mouth and deem another person not as good as you, all high and mighty! People don't contribute because theres always someone like you harassing and sticking your nose in where it doesn't belong. Always having to show how your better than them. So good job your really helping people want to contribute. I mean, its like rolling the dice on any non classified posts here, pretty decent chance someone like old man Saddlebum gonna comment on your post and start drama or call you wrong etc. I among others have experienced this on this site, me personally from my old account. So I know better than to "contribute" to any post you are involved in. My time is far more valuable than yours it seems and i'm done arguing with old fools who have no life and nothing better to do than sit on a forum all day. Learned that lesson years ago.
Again you got something factually wrong: The worst kind of forum remember is someone who always creates drama and divides the community, harasses anyone new or is outside his lil rat pack gang of compadres. That type person sounds familiar....hmmm wonder who it could be......You did this years ago and your still doing it to this day. And some how being allowed to. Your just mad and your panties in a bunch because someone finally called you out on your toxic, elitist personality. Stop starting drama dude seriously. Its pathetic looking at this point in your life. Take the L old man and keep my name outta ya mouth.
Nice try , but the truth is You're a user that had the audacity to pitch a ***** because the site owner asked for a little assistance and you want to sell your stuff for free. Then the mean old man called you out on it so you decide to play victim. I'm sure it's not coincidence the your postings pick up about the time armslist started charging

@Okuma do you mind sharing how many supporters we are up to now? The pm said 124 which I was actually surprised it was such a low number. Earlier in this thread you mentioned gaining 100. Where are we now if you don’t mind sharing?

I haven't been around here that long but between secret santa and a few good deals here and there. I have made enough money on here to pay for a lifetime membership. So for less than the cost of socialist media outlets like Netflix; I can support a local 2A outlet. Well hell that just makes too much sense :)

Also I may be interested in a banner ad. I don't have a business but if I can make fun of people on it...I might be interested. Ball is in your court :hey3:
