I have basically taken on trading derivatives as my passion/way to make a living and really need a lot of screen space for multiple charts, scanners, etc...and i dont really want to go the traditional route of using several smaller monitors linked together...and big monitors are pricey...

I am going to buy a new desktop soon and need some help...The computer will be used almost exclusively for looking at charts, running trading programs, general internet use and that is all. No gaming...I plan on buying a ~50" tv to use as a monitor and am curious what I should look for in a tower as far as graphics card etc...to get the most out of this. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks.

If you're not gaming, any onboard graphics (or card) should work as long as it's compatible to the TV.

Basic graphics nowadays will probably run anything but the most high-end games, and might even run those at lower resolutions.

TVs are simply a space to project what your computer is showing you. Compatibility doesn’t go much further than making sure your cable plugs into both. I just want to suggest a TCL tv too. You can buy a mid level one for cheap and they’re pretty great as monitors. I have a 43” hooked up to my desktop with a ooooold raedon r7 card and it works great. I do wish it was a little further away, or that I mounted it on the wall and used it as a secondary monitor.

I almost forgot. For the sake of hooking things up, you just need to make sure you have an HDMI out on your computer/graphics card. Most onboard graphics have this now, but if you really want to upgrade and go with a nicer card, that’s about the only requirement.

Just be aware that text resolution on a TV is typically no where near as good as it is on a dedicated computer monitor. There's a reason monitors are more expensive in general.
Is that going to matter much on a 50" display?

Hmmm... it might depend on how much stuff ya cram on the screen. :anyone:

Lol, I have more questions than answers...
