You are exactly right.

Blitz was the largest manufacturer of gasoline containers in the U.S.

Had some in-laws who worked there for years.

Greedy lawyers (3) ate them alive. People would accelerate fires straight out of the can and also top off hot running engines.

Google Blitz manufacturing....I could not get the link to set for some reason.(Probably my fault)

I knew it was coming and bought about 1/2 dozen of the old style while they were available. I despise the new style!

There is some options shown above, but there kinda pricey.

Seen them at Atwoods.

Steve's Wholesale Tools has a 'kit' where you can 'convert' a new style plastic can to the old style.

Which is fine, until you fall, have a wreck, or get stuck....

My kids won’t listen either. I’m the old guy who puts a parachute bag of sleeping bag, heavy clothes, hand warmers and chem lights in their cars

The joys of living in a mobile home, woke up with the toilet feed frozen, running the dryer which vents under the house freed up the tolet but the hot water to the shower is still not working. Have heat tape on most pipes but it doesn't cover everything. We ran the water in the kitchen but not the shower. Never had any trouble till this mess hit and still almost a week to go of this crap. Bad part is the probability of busted pipes when it does thaw out.

On the plus side it's all paid for and a plumber will cost less than some of our friends house payment.

The hot water to my shower froze up on Thursday and I had it dripping pretty good. Fortunately I have Pex water lines and they seem to handle a freeze without bursting.
