Yes there are aftermarket replacement gas can nozzles that work very well. I bought some a couple years ago, I think it was at Tractor Supply. Get'em now before the gubbermint bans them too.

Some years ago I was in Minnesota in the middle of winter. I was there for a few days of work. At one point on of the local guys asked if I wanted to go fishing with them. Now bear in mind my idea of fishing is a bass boat and warm weather. I told him it was -20 degrees actual temp. He laughed and said, it's a great day for fishing, Me and Lars and Sven (I kid you not, they were named Sven and Lars) are going ice fishing. I said what, are you crazy, it's minus 22 degrees out! He said it's a beautiful and great day to go fishing. We have an ice hut. We drive out on the ice in our vehicles, drill a hole and drag the ice hut on top of it. We have a generator, TV on and coffee pot on, nice chairs and we have beer!!!! Come on!

I went back to my hotel room. Sorry.

Before I left I asked him how was the ice fishing. It was great, he said. I asked him WHY IN THE HECK do you live here where it's so cold?????@!!!!!!!!! He looked at me as if I were from Mars, acted a bit indignant and flat out said"We LOVE it here!! We DO NOT like hot weather." Ok. Fine. Nice meeting you guys, you were a great host while I was here. Come down to Oklahoma some time and we will go bassin' in the bass boat. Bring shorts and tee shirts, leave your cold weather gear at home.

The hot water to my shower froze up on Thursday and I had it dripping pretty good. Fortunately I have Pex water lines and they seem to handle a freeze without bursting.

Yes it is much more forgiving than plastic and copper which is what we have.

Even as a teen and early 20's driver, I had all the extra clothes, gloves, blanket, even an extra gallon of gas in a can. As I've gotten older, the cell phone and driving experience has replaced almost all of that for normal winter driving.

Success, now have water back, running the dryer worked and no busted pipes. Guess we will be running the dryer 24/7 for the next several days. Going to be rough on the dryer but it's fairly new and maybe it will hold up.
You might get by with running it a half hour every hour or two. While you're awake anyway.

Just a thought. :drunk2:

EDIT: FWIW, our temps have dropped from 11 to 9 degrees. :/
