This is just nuts. I wouldn't want to be more than a step or two away from an accessible long gun in bear country, and never without a handgun on my person (or at least near at hand when sleeping).

Many (most?) folks don't respect wild animals near enough IMO.

My relatives that lived outside of Fairbanks took bear spray and shotguns. Buckshot was the first round, slugs after that.

Here, but occasionally There.
There was a case several years ago at a fishing camp in Canada where a guy got up in the dark and went to the privy, only to have a bear try to drag him out of there.
Somebody else heard him yelling and shot said bear.

I've heard tell that some camping in Colorado had an incident where one of the group had a bit too much to drink. Woke up to a bear pulling him out of his tent. Some have said that had he not had any beer, the bear wouldn't have smelled that and gone for the guy.

Don't know if any of that is true.

Nah, not really. Just being lighthearted, hence the emoji. But it is at least the second time he’s informed readers of a double post. I thought maybe he was bucking for the position. But the pay does suck.

Well, you do have to remember that Mac recently got a new cell phone to use as a hotspot...

...maybe he's just trying to make a bit extra cash to pay for the phone or for whatever he's ordered online. He does own firearms, so who knows what tripped his trigger.

Welcome to Camp Northwoods!
Remain alert and attentive at all times, especially when using our outhouses.
Before opening outhouse door listen carefully for signs movement inside or nearby....Cautiously circle or peek behind the outhouse for signs of anything unusual.
After opening door and before entering, do a quick scan for anything out of the ordinary.
Before turning your back on the seat inspect the underlying cavity...a flashlight is usually needed.
If uneasy at any stage of the process leave the area immediately and seek appropriate refuge.
Relax, destress and enjoy your stay here!

AHEM... he may "alledgedly" own firearms... :lookaroun

Just out of curiousity, what does a Hall Monitor get paid around here...? :D
