As an outsider looking in, I don't get it. I wish I could participate in the Classifieds but can't due to being geographically challenged. If you don't like an offer can't you just ignore it, or say no? If it's a ridiculous ad, can you not scroll on like you probably do elsewhere in your life? The golden age might be over for now but believe me there is NOTHING like what you have (a very active local site) where I live.

I think you hit the nail on the head, it is a very active local site and I think people are just worried that will change. OSA is definitely something unique compared to other places I have lived. People don't want to see it turn into a site with 1/2 the members posting ridiculous ads, low balling sales posts, never contributing to any of the conversation, no showing after agreeing to meet up.

I agree with you, it isn't the end of the world and honestly this post was just me being frustrated with some recent interactions, wasn't really trying to stir the pot and get 10 pages of arguments. I will continue to support this site, meet great people hopefully, and just ignore the bad apples.

I think this is the crux of the matter. I have tried in vain to find anything remotely like this site in Kansas as I travel there frequently and nothing appears to exist there. People don't like change and the influx from the Armslist pay-to-play fallout has had significant impact (both good and bad) to our little universe here. Without getting into the classifieds debate, I believe that in time it will settle back down and in the end we will have gained at least a few new valued members from it all and the riff-raff will get tired of getting nowhere with their deceptions and bad deals and move on.

It’s not the OSA way to ignore a ridiculous ad.

The entire situation reminds me of the Military. New guys are the Privates, Airmen, Seaman, Lts, Ensign and so on. Us 'ol regular folk are the Senior NCO's, Company Grade Officers, etc. The Admin "regular guys" are the SGMs, LTC kind of guys. Joel is the CG and owner is the Chairman Joint Chiefs. Yep, that explains it in a nutshell.

TLDR. Attention all new members with no feedback: I'll buy your grandpa's 3-screw Ruger or whatever else you're dumb enough to sell me. Just send me a PM.

Sincerely,

perfor8
There is an online auction currently going on that has a 3 screw Ruger with both .357/9mm cylinders + holster. Current price $415 but its sure to go up. Its Ken Carpenter Auctions and the firearms are in Mustang OK.
