Here, but occasionally There.
The Navajo tribal areas may be closed off. Back in November when we went to Utah and Arizona, the road across from Highway 89 to the Grand Canyon was closed off, as well as such places as Antelope Canyon. All of those are tribal areas. I don't know if those have been opened up again.

Southern Colorado also has the Great Sand Dunes National Park if one would like to see dunes as high as 750 feet. On the way to Great Sand Dunes is Zapata Falls, but one may have to walk in the stream to get back inside the cave to see it. Being in the Spring, it might be a bit of high water as well.

Depending on your interests, Chama, NM is north of Santa Fe and is the western end of the Cumbres and Toltec railway. That is a pretty scenic excursion if one is interested in steam trains.

The actual Four Corners monument is/was closed as of recently, so check before you go. Taos and Red River area is our favorite. Bring your masks if you want to walk around outside lol.

Yes, we have been keeping an eye on the Four Corners page to see if it opens back up, as we knew it had been closed. We are assuming it will by then, but we'll adjust if it doesn't.

Taos and Red River. We rented dirt bike motorcycles and rode up to Edison Mine and Midnight mine. Mine was a Kawa 175 and it was a running little beastie. Usually the places are only accessible by jeep. Of course that was waaaaay back in the 70's. You would probably have to bring yours with you.

Man, it’s been a long time since I lived in ABQ. We once went up in an 8-seater aircraft, and had the neat experience of flying in a big circle around the Four Corners monument. Four states in less than a minute while flying ;)

The Shiprock formation as seen from the air some 1500 feet up is an impressive sight, too.

If you want to see good scenery, think about a Hot Air Balloon Ride out of Albuquerque. Also, the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway is awesome. It's the worlds longest aerial tram.
It takes from the ground floor to the top of the Sandia Peak and is a great way to spend some time outdoors with no hiking (or sweating) required. Old Town in Albuquerque is also a cool place with lots of little shops and cool cafes. A lot of the locals eat at Duran's Pharmacy Lunch Café. Close to Old Town. Get the Enchilada plate, Christmas style. That means half red sauce, and half green sauce.

Those all sound like great ideas. I talked to The Wife, she thinks hitting Four Corners and working our way back through southern CO (Durango, etc.) is a good idea. Joel, we are already looking at balloon rides, and I saw that trainride thing somewhere, looked good too.

Thanks for the ideas!

1. Ojo Caliente
2. White Water raft Rio Grande
3. Gorge Bridge
4. Town square in Taos, eat at The Gorge restaurant
5. Carson National Forest

I saved the best for last, eat at El Farolito in El Rito, NM. We go every year to Raft and soak at Ojo. Hopefully they are open by then. My favorite place on earth is all around Ojo.

Have fun!

Take the narrow gauge railway ride from Durango to Silverton, CO. I don't know about the dog. You might have to find that doggie day care.

I'll suggest if you do this train ride, select the option of riding the train one way, then ride the bus the other way.

The train between Chama and Antonito is great! The meal at the half-way point is like an oldtime Thanksgiving!
