I like the idea of having an "even" number of mags, but I also like the idea of having an "even" number of loose mags and one in the pistol. So if shooting 22lr pistols, if you had 5 mags, then you would be covered to go through a box at the range.

I realize some of you may have more, but didn't put 6,7,8 because although it is not a bad idea to have extras for a main gun, it isn't affordable or practical for others.

I think I lean toward trying to have at least 4 for each, but I go back & fourth between 3,4 or 5 and wanted to know either the "best approach (and why)", or if no best approach, what YOUR personal opinion is for you (and why).

So what you're saying is you just like having some mags? LOL

At most I usually have 3 per gun. I can't keep up with any more than that. But if that's where you want to put your money, extra mags don't hurt.

These are not the firearms you're looking for.

For me, ideal is however many vehicles you own plus 3.

One in each vehicle = 2
One in the pistol = 1
Two to carry = 2

So, for me, 5 is the ideal number to have. I also rotate out the ammo that stays in the vehicle --- especially in the summer.
