I've been in/out of messing with aftermarket car audio since I was a teenager, but don't keep up with it much nowadays. Just picked up a 2004 Chevy Silverado, and want to swap door speakers out in it. Looks like the front doors have 6.5/6.75" plus tweeters, and back doors have 4x6 speakers. Any recommendations as to what sets are nice without going crazy in $$? Thought someone here might work in that industry, or play around in that hobby at least. TIA

I was doing SPL comps in my teens and twenties... trophies and plaques all over my garage... never really cared about SQ because I couldn't hear it anyway... just the pressure from the subs.

As far as SQ goes... Focal audio is the best I've ever heard... by far... those Frenchies got it figured out!

Value wise... JL, Soundstream, Pioneer... any of the Chinese stuff is pretty much all the same... just add a quality amp and you'll be set

I tricked out a 2007 model Chevy for my youngest daughter when she left for college. Replaced those raggedy chevy stock doors speakers with some Rockford Fosgate Punch 4" and Memphis Audio Silk Dome separate tweeters in the doors.

Built an under seat box with the perfect acoustic dimension according to the Fosgate website info they provide and put 2 Rock Fosgate 10" Punch in the back. I found one of the OLD solid aluminum style Rockford Fosgate 100watt amps and mounted it in an indention on the underseat box. All slight over gauge copper wire to all speakers.amp and battery. Pioneer touchscreen tuner.

There is definitely louder stuff out there but that truck sounded absolutely amazing. She got compliments on it everywhere for the quality sound.

I have a junky stock system with a broken CD player in my own truck. The things Dad will do for his last daughter leaving home. :&( LOL

Have you checked with Crutchfield? They are very helpful and you can put in your vehicle info and it will tell you what size you need. Infinity speakers have good sq for the money.

Infinity was also my go-to speaker back when I took the effort to upgrade a vehicle sound system.

Ask car audio peeps what is best and you bound to get endless answers contradicting one another. You might be well suited finding a forum specific to your vehicle. I’m sure it will have at least a few threads with lots of info.

Here is my first and last big stereo. 93 f150. Morels in the kickpanels on a dedicated amp and four 12” solos. Sounded great and really loud.

For inexpensive good sounding door or deck speakers Pioneer has always been my go to.
Son works at Best Buy in Norman and he just put some Pioneers in his Echo It was a huge upgrade from the stock ones and
you would swear he stuck an amp in it by the sound of it.
But he did not.
My corolla and vibe got some Pioneers and Kickers.
