Gah!! In the last day or two I've noticed a floater in my right eye! It looks like a spider hanging from a thread in front of my eye and moves when I make any eye movement. Guess I'll have to call my eye doctor. I've also noticed that flashing a few times over the weekend. Getting old sucks--until you consider the alternative!

You should call the eye MD ASAP.
Will prob refer you to a retina specialist MD. Good luck

Just got home from my eye doctor. He says it looks like I had a small vitreous separation that led to the flashes and floater. The tests they did showed nothing out of the ordinary. He urged me to contact my eye surgeon so I called Triad Eye Institute to advise them. They don't see any reason to do any additional testing. Dr. Anderson sent a test chart home with directions on when and how to test at home if I notice any further changes.

Thank you guys for your support and concern. You're why this is my favorite gun forum!

I have no idea how you guys deal with the shots etc coming at your eyes. I’d have to be knocked out. I can’t even do visine. Just the thought of eye surgery freaks me out.

Don't know if I could handle being awake either.

Depending on the doctor cataract surgery is done both ways so it's probably best to ask your eye surgeon if they plan on IV sedation or having the patient awake......thankfully my surgeon only does it with IV sedation.

Here, but occasionally There.
With my surgery and the preparation leading up to it, they used eye drops which apparently deaden the eye itself. During the surgery, there was an anesthetist present and he did a great job. Yes, I was awake during both surgeries for cataracts. Going into the first one, I'd have given my left leg for a smoke with my pipe that I gave up in 2003. During the surgery, I felt like I was "swaddled" and had no sense of even trying to move.

During the second surgery, I was so relaxed that about half way through the procedure, the nurse told me that I needed to take a deep breath, which I did. Afterwards, I got to thinking that I think I was breathing so shallow because of no anxiety at all. Maybe they thought I had quit entirely.
