it won double gold a week or so ago at the San Francisco spirits completion, and I started scooping them up the next day. Learned my lesson with Weller 12 years ago. Park hill south had some in last weekend. If you ever get to Tulsa let me know and I’ll hook you up with a few bottles. They are still 20.00 for now, but the double gold awards have a tendency to change that shortly afterwards.

I also order from Don’s liquor out of California. Their shipping is only 13.99 if you buy 150.00 worth of spirits.
Thanks for the offer. I’ve turned into a hermit and don’t get out of the city much but if I do and remember I’ll take you up on the offer. I’ll have to swing by the store tomorrow and see if they have any and if not I may order a 1/2 case of them.

I thought spirits online in OK was verbotten?
Nope. I meant to say Bob’s discount liquor has the 13.99 shipping. The bottles of Woodford Double Oak came out cheaper shipped from them than it was in the store here.

throw in a extra bottle to get to 150.00 and your shipping will drop from around 35.00 to 13.99

I can get that Woodford for 1/3 that online price. About $60 at Byrons in OKC vs the online $174. I'll pass.

Sippin whisky is Bushmills Black Bush or my favorite which is Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. The nectar of the Gods. Don't get it often, but it's a must have at Elk Camp.

Back to the OP. We were at a campground around a fire in Colorado last year when a bottle of pecan whisky was brought out. Holy crap that was good straight up. For the life of me, I can't remember the name but will reach out to those that were there.
We have tried a couple of other brands that tasted like pancake syrup. Nasty.

Pancake syrup. It just reminded me of probably the first and only bottle of whiskey I ever threw out. Some coworkers were talking about Crown Royal maple. That stuff was disgusting and like I said I threw it out which is odd coming from me.
I haven’t tried any of that pecan whiskey. I’m not sure if it’s sweet or if it just has notes on the nose of pecans. But it’s making me think of something sweet. Last year some friends of mine gave me some sweet whiskey. The rock rye everybody else is talking about I’ve never had but all this talk is making me think of the one that I was gifted for my birthday. Anyways there’s a place in Guthrie that makes this stuff called Oil Fire Whiskey. From the sound of it, it sounds like something hot but it’s not. When you pop the top and smell it it reminds me of those sugar waffle cones. A real strong vanilla smell. In a weird way it kind of reminds me of German gluet vine. Makes me think of something that is served for Christmas to warm you up. Pretty tasty stuff, on the sweet side and I imagine it would go good with a Dr Pepper or Coke. When we cracked the bottle open we were just drinking it straight.

The Rock & Rye my father use to buy was way to sweet. He said they would put a piece of rock candy in each bottle, and it tasted that sweet. It still brings back memories not because I liked it, but because of the old SOB I would drink it with.
To me, good pecans have a bit of a smokey flavor to them. I would hope that would become a part of the whiskey.

I’ve never had this stuff before or even heard of it. It has me tempted to go look some up just to add to my collection and try out one of these days. It looks like you can get some that is fairly weak in the 20% range and then others open to the mid 50%. As much liquor as I’ve tried I would’ve thought I’d heard of it. There is a sweet cinnamon liquor that is totally unrelated but makes me think of The rock rye you were talking about. I Think it’s called aftershock and looking into the bottle it has a bunch of crystals in it. I believe it is sugar in the bottle but I don’t know. It’s been along time since I’ve seen the stuff. I have a friend that used to always keep a bottle of it in the freezer and drink it with Dr. pepper
