or cold room.. So I have in my mind that I'm going to build a 8' x 12' meat locker.. My plan is to build it on 4" sq tube so that I can move it around with the tractor and put it out of the way when not in use.. This is going to be a long running thread as I'll be scrimping and saving to get it all done..( unless I get a partner ) Materials for the building I'll get at a discount and I'll keep my eye out for damaged materials.. I figure that the cooling system is going to kill 1k no idea what foam insulation is going to run yet.. We have a meat grinder and so we're covered there, the 1 item that's going to be tough to secure for cheap is a meat band saw..

Might look into 2x6 framing and spray foam for insulation. would need to figure out the insulation for the floor so you would not need two foam insulation trips. Wall and roof framing would only need 2ft center layout so lumber would be minimal, 3/4 decking for the floor is gonna be a hit if bought new, metal for roof and walls will be easy to find, could use old barn corrugated, closed cell foam will seal it and if it is ugly.. metal paint and primer .....

Spray foam materials are hard to come by at the moment. 2 manufactures that I normally order thru are canceling POs. Both tell me they are not producing at the moment, no eta as to when they will start up again. Most regular insulation is getting hard to come by as well with extended lead times on orders.

You can get a window unit AC and a modify it with a Cool Bot to keep your locker at 38-40 degrees.
We have a old walk in cooler that has been added onto and sits on a skid the outside needs work but like you said we have a window unit with the bot system and it works great my sil has a app on his phone where he can control it from the house

I have access to good priced red iron, so lumber is out.. 4" sq tube, cut and turned up at each end for ski effect.. 3" open C purling in floor which will saddle and capture 3" foam board foil down, walls will be 4" open C purlin and saddle 4" foam.. Roof/ceiling 4 " and then all will be covered with foil tape to insure no leaks.. Foam will come from Taylor foam in okc.. Cut to size..
