Braces were a skirt around the law. Every body knows this, but won’t acknowledge it.
Your fighting a battle that you can’t win.
Oh yeah, 100%. I’ve got a couple, really enjoy them, think the laws around them are dumb and massive overreach but that’s not really what we’re talking about.
Pistol braces were a short term solution to a long term problem.
I’d be surprised if the proposal goes through as written but I’m sure they’re not done coming after them.

Yes, yes, that’s the spirit. The 2nd Amendment specifically states that thou shalt infringe all over freedom and firearms if the government wants to and should continuously do so? Amirite?

So, the government says I can buy something. It goes through one of their “approved and rightfully controlled” pawns called ffl’s. It’s even got a tax on it that the manufacturer pays the government before it ever even gets to the shelf. Then, I fill out a form that proves I’m not a “criminal” and I buy it with my hard-earned money. I can own it for years. Now, the government comes back and says, “well, we decided we wanted to change our mind”. You now have to pay us MORE money. Or we can put you in prison for years for some pieces of plastic and rubber. By the way, the pieces of plastic and rubber, which were previously approved, have done nothing wrong. They just sat there being pieces of plastic and rubber. They’ve committed no crime, done nothing and changed nothing. Does this not sound CRAZY to anyone else?!?

It’s another attempt at gun control. One piece at a time. The government telling us what we can and can’t have. My opinion is that it would be better to have the pro-gun organizations fight the battles with their lawyers.

If one of us were arrested and charged for one of these offenses, how many could afford bail and legal expenses and fees for what could be a long and drawn out legal battle? I know I couldn’t. And, if upon losing the battle to become a convicted felon and lose much more than that.

Will or would any of these organizations support a single “brace” case all the way to the SCOTUS? If it made the news with a lot of publicity! Maybe. If not?

I'd like to see a case challenging legislation by executive order or bureaucratic decree. Of course, that can be a two-edged sword... if that case is decided in favor of those situations, it will be a free-for-fall to ban everything the .gov can put on paper.

Yeah, we can win. It may not be a victory in court, but it will be a win on the battlefield for our rights. That's why we have arms - so we can win on a battlefield for our rights and freedoms.

Though they ban certain arms, they say we still have the right to keep and bear other arms. But, the problem is not that though we may keep and bear those other arms, the problem is that they have infringed upon the RKBA. An infringement, no matter how small, or seemingly insignificant, or for what ever "reason" given, is an infringement and a violation of the restriction placed upon government by the Second Added Article to the Constitution of the United States.

The only reason for government to restrict, ban, register, and/or confiscate our arms is to prevent We the People from defending ourselves against tyranny, despotism, dictatorship, fanaticism, autocracy, theocracy, Fascism, Marxism, socialism, communism, ochlocracy, oligarchy, slavery, and yes; even democracy.

We've heard it said that there is a compelling government interest in disarming the public. That is true. Reread the previous paragraph.

I do not own a brace, so I don’t have a dog in this particular fight. However I am an owner of firearms (not as many as I’d like but that’s a story for another day. I’m for any and all of the amendments of the constitution, especially the right to own and bear arms.

This is just like everything else that’s come out of public shootings. The government knows they can’t stop the illegal ownership of firearms, so they will continue to push and try to get the arms of us who will stay within the confines of the law. And…as they will learn, if there ever comes a day when they are successful in passing a law where the arms are to be given up by us, the crime rate will be out of control.

These thoughts are certainly in their talks, I mean I’m just a poor small town guy in Oklahoma, if I can see it, surely they can right? Anyway, I just can’t imagine anything like that happening in my time, so I just don’t see that drastic of measures happening. I do however see them nitpicking, bump stocks, arm braces, etc, but hopefully they’ll get tired of it? If a petition comes around (even though they make zero difference), I’ll certainly sign up, or join my brothers-in-arms to ‘peacefully protest’. I pray they just leave us the hell alone though!

Just my $0.02 worth.

Indeed. And the sheer stupidity of this approach is absolutely mind-boggling. New laws to restrict & persecute law-abiding citizens never has, AND NEVER WILL, deter criminals because THEY DO NOT OBEY THE LAW ANYWAY.

Exactly! Makes no flippin sense, I’ve been sitting here stewing over the topic since I commented. The longer I sit here thinking, the madder I get, I’m boiling right now lol. Guess it don’t help to get mad, I can’t do anything about it no matter how it comes out…if that was the case, Trump would still be President!!!

The GOA is already planning to sue for the pistol brace deal. I just received a letter in the mail yesterday for it. And they are still fighting the bumpstock deal. FPC is also challenging things in court.

Look, I know there are a lot that say the brace was designed as a skirt of the law but it actually wasn’t. It may be used for that now but that is not why it was originally designed. Regardless, the government has no right to try and make them illegal no more than they have the right to create any other gun laws. But as long as us 2A supporters keep on being divided and weak, the government will continue to take our rights away one step at a time. It amazes me how many folks seem ok with the feds infringing on the 2A as long as it’s not something that affects them. But in actuality, every anti gun thing that is done affects us all. We have got to come together and stand as one or we are done.
