I had one of the little micro drones that only has a 50’ or so range before losing the radio signal. Flew it inside the house or in the shop occasionally.
Flew it outside once. Lost signal with it continuing in a Northerly direction until it went out of sight over the tree tops.
Went looking for it and found it! Only indoor flying now. It’s only 4” across with four tiny props.

My old boss was building a new house. Every day he had his drone programmed to go from his house to the new location and fly over the job site checking on the progress being made. It was incredible.

Sorry, but I am old school. They are a new technology and have their place which is not over my house. You would be surprised how many have been flying above you when you are out of the house. At special events and touristy places I scour the sky.

My personal feelings don't matter but I very much dislike them. I feel they are an invasion of my privacy even in a public area. I also feel they are like a gun and can be used for both good and bad. Drones are like an extension of the personality and morals operating it.

Just picked up a little drone and was practicing my front yard this morning and my neighbor came out screaming at me about my "spy plane" and it made me laugh. Figured I'd see what other people thought.

My wife and girls got me one for Christmas several years ago. I've flown it exactly one time. I probably should've just taken it back and got something else because now I think I'd be out more money for a new battery.

Regardless, I'd probably fly it more if we lived farther away from folks.

You folks crack me up. A drone will be far out of shotgun range and good luck hitting it with anything else. Google street view and satellite show much more about how folks live than anyone probably cares about anyway. You should see some of the imagery available to oil and gas, .gov or anyone else that wants to pay for it. They can tell you how how many inches high the curb is on your street and what's really hidden under your trees. The airspace above your home is not owned by you. Get over it.

Wonder how many of the “muh privacy” folk have removed their houses from the maps..
Funny thing--I've been checking the realty sites for houses in the Tulsa area. Most of them have lots of pics of the house, yard, rooms, etc, but a surprising number of them only have a single Google Streetview image of the house. The funniest of those was in Sapulpa; the owner had apparently taken the time to have it "removed" from Streetview, so the only pic of the property had the actual house blurred out. I guess they were really serious about selling that place...

Technically I think you own the first 72 some odd feet. Or 500 feet. Something like that. Definitely not to airplane or satellite level.

Also funny is how many people seem to be cool with destroying other people's property for seemingly no reason. A while back there was a thread involving flags where a good chunk of folks on this board said they were cool killing people for that. Wonder what their thoughts would be here.

Lots of fun to fly & video thunderstorms in the distance. Great quality & alternative angles/viewpoints.

From what I understand so far, basically once you are off the ground, FAA is over it. First 400 feet from the ground is uncontrolled air space. Which means an air traffic controller isn't directing anything.
