Well, I own 10 of these gems, and my opinion of them is vastly different than the pretty boy's. I will admit that I don't, and won't, own one made by S&W or one of the new ones out of Ft Smith. That horrendous enlarged tang ruins the lines of the gun for me, and many other Walther purists. My pistols are all post WWII West German or French (Manurhin) with the exception of two nicely engraved with gold plated parts made by Interarms. Those are just BBQ guns, although both function just fine. I know that here are plenty of "better" choices for a carry gun now, but for me, the Walther PPK is just fine. I typically carry a beautifully blued West German pistol in .380, but every now and then, I'll carry one in the lowly .32ACP caliber. I have a fairly rare PPK-L (lightweight) chambered in .32 ACP that is a joy to shoot, and carries very nicely too. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and mine is that these are exceptionally well made guns and not hard to look at either.

I've owned several PPK's, admittedly mostly due to nostalgia. I like how they feel, but I'm a better shot with other handguns.

If you like it, and you're proficient with it (huge other topic), your example has proven reliable over hundreds of rounds, and you're willing to carry it everywhere then where is the issue?

Nowhere.

That being said, there are lighter pistols with higher capacity, and just as proven a track record in the field (if not better) than certain models some of us like to carry. Does that make them better? Totally dependent on the shooter and their individual level if proficiency.

Some people confuse the arguments of capability and being more proficient. Many pistols are capable of defending one's life with...some pistols are more proficient in certain areas than others.

I'll never see the point in trying to convince someone that the pistol they've carried for 20 years and can produce fist-sized or better groups with at 10 yards is desperately in need of an upgrade.

But it makes for another video and a lot of attention when statements like that are made.

My only issue is that it takes the guy twelve minutes to say that direct blowback is inferior to recoil operation. Even Walther would agree with that premise at this point.

As soon as he said that if you have a PPK for defense, you don't take self-defense seriously, that brought back memories of a flood of posts on the old Kansas forum from this poster who said that if you used anything other than what he approved of, you didn't take self-defense seriously.

I'll give the guy this much: at least he acknowledged his view was an opinion, whereas the Kansas guy stated his opinion as absolute, scientifically proven facts

I turned the video off at that point as, after that, I can't take anything he says seriously.

Sorry.

My only gripe with the Walther PP-series of pistols is the slide mounted safety that can fall into SAFE due to recoil after the detent has worn a bit. That's not a problem for organizations that have a full-time armorer but for civilians, it's a potential failure point that is just a bit too far for me. For a small, steel framed pistol in .32 or .380, I'd prefer the SIG Sauer P230/232. I almost had a chance to buy one at a nice price last year--if my unemployment came in a week eariler, I would have had it!

That was his first mistake. I would blame him and not the gun. You never carry any handgun with the trigger uncovered.

Except for all the guys here who drop a gun in their pocket for CC. While some do have pocket holsters I bet several do not, and in the 70s pocket holsters were not a thing. Heck IWB holsters were just really starting to show up. Most people just stuck their gun in their waistband.
