I for one try stock as much as I can for times like this. The only things I didn't have was ammo for the calibers I acquired during this time. Even then I have taken my time and found it at reasonable prices a box at a time or traded some of what I have plenty of to get what I had none of. Now I have at least a decent stock on all calibers without paying the crazy prices.

My niece's husband just got into firearms and shooting.

He askes me all the time if such & such or so & so is a "decent deal" or if it is "out of sight" high. He's not looking for the "old price", but he doesn't want to get took or encourage those that are way over pricing items either. Again, if you want to wait in line and buy it retail and then mark it up 200-300 %, your time is worth something and it's still a free country. I also have no issue with at least letting others know what you're doing, and encouraging them not to buy at those inflated 200-300% markups over current retail.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with flagging items that are double & triple the current retail price in order to help those new to the sport out with their buying decisions.

I got nothing against capitalism. I also got nothing against advising a friend & wouldn't hesitate to tell someone I was close with that they were getting screwed on a deal, firearm related or not, if they had a somewhat limited knowledge of what they were getting into.

I thought this was a "close knit community" & we looked out for our fellow members. I guess not.

I have taken advice and given advise on guns and ammo by PM, that's not against the rules.....yet.

You say “… yet” like you’re kidding, and I kinda believe ya are, but I gotta tell ya, the way things are going it wouldn’t shock me.

It’s a bit of a sad situation. Again, I’ve got no issue with people asking for very inflated prices. My issue is with the folks that are buying, specially those that are doing so because of both a lack of knowledge and desperation. This is a gun forum. It’s for people to give & receive advice & info on firearm related subjects. I’ve always believed that included prices.

I don’t expect anything will change here and there will be a bunch of those that start calling me a socialist cause “what the market will bear” and all that happy horseshit. Fact of the matter is we have members that have joined for the specific purpose of sticking it to those that are less knowledgeable and desperate and they contribute nothing else to this board. It just goes to prove, here is no such thing as a “firearm community”; including this one.

Hey, it is what it is, but, if you’re a *********, just know that there are people out there that see what you are.

I'm not buying any 9mm until it gets back below 20 cents a round. I don't need it....I have plenty of it that I bought under 20 cents a round. I bought a Glock 44 and can buy .22lr for under 6 cents a round and I've gotten where I think it is more fun to target shoot it and a lot cheaper.

It give me plenty of practice and I'll just save my 9mm stuff for the time that I really need it. Even if it goes back below 20 cents a round, I'm probably not going to buy much of it. Just keep shooting my Glock 44.

Kinda sorry you feel that way. We can’t regulate who joins or how much they price their wares for. I do wish that they would become more involved and not just use OSA like an armslist. We had a big influx of new members when armslist started charging though.
The core members are still pretty close knit. I probably have 50 or so members in my contacts of my phone. We refer to each other for all things life related. I consider them all friends .

Just did a quick count in my contacts in my phone and I saw 25 OSA members without doing a 'deep dive'. This site is my 'clubhouse' I'd say.

I’ve met many guys on a firearms related deal and in conversation found that we shared interest outside of the 2A community. That led to texts and calls about other things. One that comes to mind is my long text thread with one member about dirt car racing. It’s pages long.
