Maybe I'm missing something but wouldn't it have been cheaper to call a locksmith to get into your car than breaking out the window?

Sorry you had such a rough day.

The wife and daughter screwed around on the phone trying to call AAA then remembering our insurance uses someone else, then deciding to call an Uber, before remembering her house key was locked in the car too. By the time they were done with all that my O2 needed to be charged. Quicker to break a window than waiting an hour or two for a locksmith.

Sadly I think the wife and daughter were having a blonde day. I would suggest something and they would ignore me until they finally got around to figuring out what I had told them. Needless to say I was getting beyond frustrated and had hit pissed off. Then the wife comes out with a tack hammer. I was so pissed 2 whacks and the widow had a nice hole in it. Then the wife would not let me reach thru to open the freaking door.

New glass I can order for $80, releasing some frustration on the poor defenseless window, priceless. :P :P :P

I have not decided if we will have it replaced or I will order the glass and try replacing it myself. Leaning towards me doing it because of cost.

My Uncle ran a glass shop in Ponca City for around 40 years.
He ran into your situation a lot with people breaking the side window to get access.
He said the windshield was a cheaper overall fix than the side window.
Be interesting to hear what your costs will be.
This is what I've heard as well... someone told me the side window is the most expensive window on the car.

There are some negatives to the keyless entry systems, but one of the positives is it's very hard to lock your keys in your car. I would have locked them in the trunk once, and in the car a couple of times otherwise. Go ahead and say it, most of the people I know will confirm that I'm not very smart. :rollingla

Man.......

No matter what, I always got my keys, and the really important ones I carry two of, one in each pocket!

Me too. Two keys. Different pockets. I couldn’t wait. Had to stop and take a pee just west of Watson Lake at -45 degrees. I sacrificed that little wing window on my 1992 F150. Lucky I even found a rock…

Just another one of those days. Wife forgets her cell ( I never carry mine unless I am driving) We get our Aldi shopping done and hit Walmart for the odds and ends we need. Get that done, load the stuff in the car, wife jumps in starts it and jumps out closing the door. Keys, purse, everything is now locked in the car. Again I am not carrying my keys either since I am not driving.

I go to get my emergency key hided back in my wallet. Wife "Oh I forgot to give that back last time we had the car worked on". So standing in Walmart parking lot at the car as it is running while the wife goes inside and uses a phone to call the daughter. 2 hours later they have decided to call an Uber, except we have no house keys. Can not reach AAA. I finally send the wife in to buy a hammer and knock out a side window.

We make it home and the first thing I did was get my emergency key back. Some days I hate my life.
Would have been cheeper to call a lock smith for $50. May be more now. Last time that happened to a GF of mine it was that much.

I love my keyless entry.

I carried a flat spare key in my billfold for decades because of this kind of stupidity. Hey, it happens.

Worst case I ever saw was when I pulled into a boat ramp on a lake that only had 1 open ramp because of a multitude of other tragedies that day, including a fatal boat crash that had 2 ramps closed for recovery and rescue folks. Anyway, pulled into the ramp area. Boats lined up 60-70 deep. No kidding, 60 or 70 boats. Truck parked on the ramp with a boat on the trailer, still in the water. Cop cars every where.

The wife let me off at the dock so I could go see what was up. Gal had backed the trailer in the water, husband/boyfriend loaded the boat. She got out to winch it up, and; truck was running. Keys locked inside. One thing led to another and he'd punched her. He was cuffed and stuffed. She was holding a bloody towel to her face, and a couple locksmiths were working on both sides of the truck. One of my buddies pulled by in his boat and said, "tell them to pick up a piece of rip rap and throw it thru a F'in window". One of the lake patrol guys heard him and I got in trouble cause I was standing where he could chastise me for what my friend had said on his ramp flyby. "Tell your pal I got enough going on up here I don't need him adding to it. " What a brutal day at the lake.

Boat ramps are under rated for the entertainment value.

Sorry about your window.
