I had an iPhone 5 and got really good at changing the battery in it. I probably did it at least five times if not more. I also replaced the screen a lot because I kept on breaking it. My experience with the aftermarket batteries is that they are nowhere near as good as the OEM factory batteries. I could never find a true authentic Apple battery. The things that I got off eBay or Amazon never really lasted that long.
I was going to have my battery replaced on my iPhone 8 at Best Buy but the store clerk said she wanted my passwords and I was like no you don’t. It was going to be about 50 bucks but I’m not about to give anybody the password on my phone.
I’ve been thinking about tackling the battery on it but unless I can find an authentic Apple battery I’ll probably just keep on procrastinating
I have an iPhone 8 now. Do you know if they replace the seal so it is water proof with the battery change? Did they ask for your password? I paid once before in my 5 and it was a 100. That’s when I learned how to do it myself. I know they test it going on and off but I don’t know why anyone would need the password for a battery swap.I take my Iphone 5 to Xpress Celluar Repair. It was $40 to have the battery replaced. Not an apple battery but they give a lifetime replacement on it. They've replaced it twice since then at no charge. Quick service too.

Thanks. I ended up looking up one of those There’s one going west of the Northwest Expressway and hooked a right on Rockwell. There’s a plaza off there with one. Guy charged like 52 bucks to change the battery in my iPhone 8 Plus. He was quick like 10 or 15 minutes. They‘ve never asked for the password. As for the seal I don’t know. They are extremely helpful and am sure they’d answer your questions.
I stopped using Best Buy for several reasons; 1) I bought a top-of-the-line laptop from them and let their 'Geek-Squad' make a back-up disc copy of the OS for me. They did OK with that but then added a bunch of Best Buy advertising/special deals crap to it; 2) they lost ALL the paperwork that had come included with the new laptop. I had to download and print out everything (at my expense) including the instruction manual; 3) on another visit I was just browsing screen cleaners for my TV but decided I wanted to research them online before I chose one. When I got home I discovered that the cashier had included in my bag of goodies, without my knowledge, the exact screen cleaner I had been looking at but had decided not to buy at that time; 4) trying to return said screen cleaner, even with the receipt was hell. It finally took my threat to go to corporate before the manager would OK the return ☹I had an iPhone 5 and got really good at changing the battery in it.
