Thought this was too good to pass up. The wife and I decided to have a garage sale today. Inadvertently I put out some firearm related items like ammo cans and an optic for sale which signaled some folks to ask if I had any guns/ammo for sale.

One person in particular approached and asked, so I brought out the firearms I was selling. We chat, he asks what I want for them one by one, making various facial expressions as he inspects them, and then moving on to the next one.

After he checked out all of the firearms he looks me dead in the eyes and says that firearm A and B are good prices but that firearm C is way too much. He then says "at that price, I can't make any money on it, that's just how it is, you know?" Then, without any response on my part, he hands me it back, tells me how he buys guns all over the place and shops hundreds of garage sales, and leaves.

Not sure if I should be offended if someone says the quiet part out loud or if I should be thankful for his honesty

That is exactly why I hate selling anything at a gun show. Same guys will spend 20 minutes finger ****ing every orfus on the gun then make some low ball offer that makes you want to throat punch them.

It's been a long time since I've seen anything gun related at garage sales. I used to go all the time for tools and such.

I think he wasted your time. That's enough reason to tell him that you didn't give a lick about what he does or how he makes money and if he's not going to buy, bye!

I would be offended if someone said that to me, you courteously responded to him and went inside to bring your guns out and he sort of badmouthed them. Then you had to take them back in the house...

Doubt he’s an ffl. If not what he’s doing is illegal
I got a bit of a weird vibe from him after he was done looking them over while he was trying to convince me he's legit.

Was definitely not my intention to sell at a garage sale, definitely will be more cognizant of my for sale items in the future

It wasn't a skinny white guy in a beat up white Kia was it? I met a guy off armslist that told me he was flipping the gun I sold him for a sizeable chunk. That pissed me off.

I would politely tell him it’s not your job to sell him anything with profit margin left in for him.
Those words were on my tongue. Had the guy not run away with the conversation I would've likely said something like that.

After he walked off, I began to wonder if he was drunk or had suffered some sort of trauma. Makes me laugh now looking at the situation
