July 22, 2021: From Atwood's 9mm 124 grain Federal FMJ at $14.99 for 50 rounds and Federal 9mm 124 grain Punch Personal Defense Jacketed Hollow Point at $12.99 for 20 rounds. Limit 2 boxes total per day.

August 7, 2021: From Atwood's 9mm 124 grain Federal FMJ at $19.99 for 50 rounds and Federal 9mm 124 grain Punch Personal Defense Jacketed Hollow Point at $18.99 for 20 rounds. Limit 2 boxes total per day.

They have been told they will probably continue to receive limited allocations of ammo in various calibers, but the prices are likely to stay at least at the newer amounts for the foreseeable future.

It is good to see relatively large quantities of 9mm (maybe 40-50 boxes of 50 rounds) and other ammo on the shelves, but it will be interesting to see if the prices stay at the newer or higher prices.

P.S. They also have a good selection of handguns and rifles, which is also nice to see.

As long as the military is buying ammo I don't see it dropping at all really. I have just accepted $0.40-0.50/rd 9mm. Obviously would not be mad if it did come down, but raw materials and demand outside of recreational shooting and training is just too high right now.
agree. I just secured another 1000 rnds at .40 I will be pleased if it comes down, but I don't see us ever seeing .25 even for some time if ever. I figure it is a small price to pay for having it versus not, and in reality, if it doesn't come down, I made right choice.

Summertime for weapons is slow time. With fall around the corner and hunting season fast approaching, I think you’ll see demand increase greatly and supply trickle in. So, if you want/need it and they’ve got it and you’ve got the money, might want to buy.

As long as the shelves keep getting cleaned out, then the price will stay up!

When the retailers start sitting on it, then the price will get back to normal!

Some will even have sales! :)

In total last year I probably shot 200 rounds. This year it has been maybe 40.

Nowadays I mostly shoot to confirm zero and to know that I haven't become terrible at it.

Can't understand those of you who are still putting thousands of rounds downrange in these times, but more power to you. Must be nice to have that much disposable income.

Understand the changes in your shooting habits. I shoot at an outdoor range and rarely see any other shooters but see empty brass from guys that fire 10-15 rounds and leave.
I reload and shoot mostly handguns and during the Trump era when components were cheap and plentiful I gradually built up my inventory. Using this inventory my ammo is real cheap, like 9mm for 10-12 cents per round. But there is very little empty brass to pick up at the range now days.

At current consumption rates I think I can keep shooting for 2 years or maybe until the next general election.

Retailers aren't going to sit on it. They'll sell it just like the manufacturers want. That's how $$$ is made. As long as people buy at high prices, prices will stay up.

Don't think the retailers and manufacturers are your friend and want to give you a good deal or sale.

The only way prices go down is if manufacturers massively overproduce product and/or the people stop buying, both of which cause imbalance in supply/demand.

Overproduction benefits the consumer but not the manufacturers. Therefore, there won't be any massive overproduction of ammo resulting in lower prices anytime soon

I have no doubt the prices will fall [as they already have been] -- simple supply and demand
if you are buying 9mm for 20-25/box that is your choice but you will be sitting on a pile of very expensive ammo
