I love that style holster. I have one similar for my 1911 and one for my P89. I can conceal the 1911 just fine but the P89 has such a fat grip it prints to bad. Nothing beats good leather. I do own one cheap plastic I got in a trade and a few nylon holsters I use to protect the finish.
I think it's great. I've had to adapt a few Desanti holsters to work with my Holosun's on other guns. I just cut the leather out to make it fit. It worked out great. I have a few black leather holsters and one tan but I think this one will be my favorite. I didn't order the matching mag carriers but I can do that later.

I can not afford that fancy stuff so all my pistols are stock outside of some cheap grips on my 1911. Desantis works fine for them.

Crap. Didn't my CZ P07 just won't fit. It did fit another of my guns so it's all good. I moved my FNX tactical 45 out of it's desanti holster and put the cz in and it's a perfect fit. This is the one I did some modification opening the top of the leather to accommodate the gun and holosun. I've got leather for all my guns now except the FNX 45 so I'll just get another Desanti and do the same thing to it. It was a perfect fit as well.

Curious about your thoughs here. I’ve a strong preference for leather and don’t normally worry about wear on blueing but if you had this or something blued as nice, what would you recommend to keep your bluing protected from wear?

Its not a CC candidate but generally get a nice rig for my pistols and revolvers just the same. With the 8 3/8” barrel here I couldn’t even find a sheepskin at North 40. Other than that trip I hadn’t really done any shopping yet.

To me, it all depends on how and why you want to carry it. If open carry I have seen some leather holsters with a lining to protect the finish. If concealed, I would use a good shoulder rig.

I ordered one of those 1791 holsters for a revolver recently and was really surprised at the quality…it was from Amazon and I hadn’t ever used one before so I wasn’t necessarily expecting a lot out of it. I sold the revolver already but I’d definitely buy another.

RickN is right about the lining. You can buy them with the lining and they are smooth removing. Might need a thumb break or something to keep it holstered. You can also use wax paper. I've always use wax paper on a tight fitting gun. Just wrap the firearm in wax paper and holster fully, draw, holster fully and then just in and out a bunch. It will allow the wax to get into the leather. Thing is, that anything rubbing against another object is going to create friction and wear. That means the bluing will wear. The lining is the best or getting a holster that doesn't rely on tension and compression to hold the gun in. Another reason I like my thumb breaks. I like an easy pull, but with the best safety being held in place by the thumb break. I've done a couple of contest that required running with an AR and and holstered hand gun.
