Last October, the phone company had a "guy" come out and put in a substitue underground line, without notice. He cut my inderground cable line so I called the cable company and they sent a guy out right away who laid a new line on top of the ground saying it was to wet to bury the line but he would be back in about 3 days to do so.
It's still on top of the ground and has been cut by my lawn service about 2 months ago, they sent a guy out to repair that;
I have called many times asking that it be buried and they kept gibing me excuses.
Finally they said the company they use to mark other lines is "too busy" but I could get another company to do so if I wanted to pay for it.
I live north of Tulsa, does anyone know a company that can come out and mark the lines and maybe bury the line?
Thanks

The cable company lays out the lines then they hire a subcontractor that comes along behind them to "bury" them. Now when I say bury I don't mean bury deep like sewer or gas lines. They come out and decide where the lines will run and if you aren't there, they will run right across your lawn and not give you any consideration for your future garden, sidewalk, pool, etc. They take a square spade and slit the lawn sometimes up to 4 whole inches deep, wiggle the spade to widen the slit then step on it to cover the newly "buried" cable.

Be there when they do it or do it yourself to do it right.

You can dial 811(Call Okie) to get the underground utilities marked. They only mark what is owned by the utilities. They do not mark private lines but that shouldn't be an issue in this situation.

That being said, I don't know if that will help because whomever is doing the "digging" is the one that is supposed to call in the locate. I don't know if the contractor that is supposed to bury the line will dig if he didn't call it in.

Like others have said, they only bury phone and cable drops a few inches so you could do it yourself if you wanted but be sure and call for a locate so you don't cut someone else's drop. It is free to you.

They have 48 hours to do the locate after you call it in.

Good luck.
