There were a lot bigger fish to fry than this 96 year old woman and they escaped to brazil or some other south American country. Adolph Eichmann engineered the deaths of over six million Jews and ultimately slaughtered 73% of European Jews by the end of WWII. I believe he hid out in an American refugee camp and then it is believed he went to Austria where his wife and family were. Suddenly Frau Eichmann disappeared and couldn't be found. Eichmann was finally kidnapped by Israeli agents in Brazil and spirited back to Israel for trail. I remember his trail was depicted in Look magazine in the early sixties and he was put to death by ?cyanide. He was a big fish and Simon Wiesenthal the Nazi hunter located him. Wiesenthal's wife was executed in a concentration camp so he had a personal interest in the capture of Eichmann. But Frau Eichmann knew about where her husband was and didn't tell the authorities and she joined him in brazil. Shouldn't she been have punished more so than the 96 year old woman? Of course she is deceased by now but still a comparison pf crimes gives her the greater guilt.

I remember the Eichmann trial. I believe they hung him. There were several tv shows about his capture back then.
Hanging was the justice.
SI have mixed feelings. A 96 year old former secretary to a Nazi death camp commander skips out before her trial on 11,000 counts of being an accessory to murder. It's interesting but would putting her on trial accomplish anything? I have mixed feelings. If she really killed people, fine. Put her on trial. But it sounds like she's being tried simply because she worked at the camp. So I'm just a little torn on this one. Part of me says let the old lady die in peace. She's 96. It's quite possible she wouldn't even survive the trial. What if the strain of the trial is too much for her, she's acquitted and then dies from the added stress. Is that right?

Too many questions. Interested to hear what others think:

I'm kind of torn on this as well as we don't know if she was indentured to do the job unwillingly which was not uncommon, or was a German participant willing to help the extermination. Some of the Jewish own people became helpful to the Nazi's within the camp to help the Germans. When the people in the camp knew they were to be freed, I've read the lives of those collaborators wasn't long and they were not freed.
I'm betting there is a whole lot of facts we don't know about the participation.

One thing you can count on - the media may claim there are 1857 genders, BLM riots were peaceful, Jan 6 was an insurrection, ghost guns are a huge problem, gun owners cause crime, George Floyd was a saint, Trump was the devil - but - when it comes to Nazi history they'll give you 100% unvarnished truth. I mean, why would they be biased?

If anyone wants to dive deeper into that subject, you might give the following book a read:
