Never seen anything paranormal, but don't dismiss that it can be true. Too much evidence to prove it may be viable.
We had a housekeeper that said our house was haunted. After installing the security system, the camera in the garage would show a moth or something as a flying object. The camera speed would make it look big. Kind of spooky looking actually.
We pretty much convinced her that it was a ghost flying out in the garage and she got freeked out about it. Finally confessed it was a scam but she was never convinced.

I'm not a believer in ghosts as they are commonly portrayed and discussed. 99%+ of ghost stories are pure BS.
But I do believe there are some things that don't fit into the "normal" world.

A little background-
I had an aunt (dad's older sister) and uncle that meant the world to me. Basically my second parents. They were absolutely two of the best, most decent people in the world. Both of their children had died young, both before 25 years old. No kids, no grandkids.
A little over a dozen years ago my uncle was diagnosed with cancer. My aunt was already suffering from Alzheimer's. A cousin from another aunt and myself were the only family members willing to step up and help them. My uncle passed just before Christmas and my aunt was living in an assisted living facility.
They had a 120 acre farm way out in the country, nearest neighbors were nearly a mile away, and it fell to me to maintain the property and my cousin took care of the things she was better at like financial and medical care for my aunt. I spent a couple of years making at least weekly visits to the farm and mowing twice a month or more in season.

Numerous times while I was working around the property like mowing the yard and areas close the house and outbuildings I would think I saw someone else there. Either a glimpse out of the corner of my eye of someone slipping around the corner of a building or similar. Many times I would stop the mower and get off to see who my visitor was only to find no one else around. Never felt creeped out or like I was being watched, just a damn, I coulda swore I saw someone, maybe it was a bird or a animal...

This went on for a few years until my aunt succumbed to the ravages of Alzheimer's and general old age.

Prior to my aunt's passing when I went to the property to work I always sort of felt sort of a sense of welcome. After my aunt passed the next trip out things felt different. Not bad or creepy, just empty. I think maybe some of that was probably my own feeling of loss manifesting. But maybe after my aunt had passed there was no longer any need for my uncle to wait around for her.

My wife growing up, got up to go to bathroom during the night. On her way, she walked by the dining room. Her grandpa was sitting there at the table and she walked by and said "hi". She went in the bathroom and got cold chills and scared. She called out to her parents to wake them, but they didn't hear her. Her grandpa didn't live there.

A good friend of mine grew up in a neighboring town, however we never met until I went to school at OSU. We became good friends and talked about anything and everything. I don’t know how we got on the subject but one day, I asked him if he believed in ghosts. I could tell by the look on his face that I was about to hear a story.

He and his mom lived in an apartment complex on the edge of town. His dad was still in the picture but in the military so they were by themselves most of the time. He was 14 years old and had a property that he could hunt but it was a mile or better from their apartment. He had to walk to get there, mainly because his mom had to work but also because it was in the middle of no where. No highways or county roads near it, and only an old farm road or two that were impassable in bad weather. The quickest way for him to get there was on some railroad tracks that led right past the property. There was an old dilapidated farmhouse that was nearly gone and no other houses or structures anywhere near the property.

It was a cold November morning, heavy with freezing fog. He set out well before daybreak and headed down the tracks. He was nearly to the property when he smelled something rancid. He described it to be ”like death.” He just assumed the train had hit a cow or deer that was rotting somewhere nearby, but it was so foggy he couldn’t see past the railroad bed to see anything. He continued walking down the tracks and eventually got away from the smell, but soon came upon the same smell again. Still he could see nothing but he got an eerie feeling and picked up his pace. As he was hurrying to his hunting property, he started to hear footsteps behind him. He continued to walk while he looked over his shoulder…until he ran into something. He turned to see an old man standing on the tracks in front of him. The old man was wearing tattered overalls with no shirt and no shoes. he looked up at the old man”s face that looked like a blank stare, then he smelled the rancid smell again. Keep in mind the temperature was right at freezing and this old man was in the middle of nowhere with minimal clothing. He said that the old man then started to lean down toward him like he was going to say something, then vanished. He said they were no more than 2 feet apart so he didn’t disappear into the fog, rather he was just gone. My buddy said he was so scared that he ran all the way back to their apartment and never went back to hunt that place again.

That is the only ghost story or anything of the like that he ever told me. Said he never had any other experiences, but yes, due to that encounter, he does believe in ghosts.

I’ve had a few intriguing experiences in the forests of the Northeast, but the weirdest one was in the Southern part of the Colorado Rockies. I will admit, the place had a rather ominous name.
I went to a Forest Service campground to spend the night, but they wanted $22 a night. They said I could go further up the road to a campsite not yet open for the year and stay for free. The road was quite rough for my van (which I’d been travelling the country in), so I pulled over to a clearing by a stream, not yet to the campgrounds.
I parked the car as the last light faded, and stood outside for a cigarette. Then, my right side sliding (electric) door opened on its own. I thought it was a bit strangebut a moment after I walked to the other side of the car, it happened again. I closed it, and as soon as I sat down in the driver’s seat it happened again, this time while I was staring directly at it. I was soon overwhelmed with the feeling that this was NOT the place I wanted to stay at.
I drove back to the original place, and with wide eyes and a hurried voice I told them about it, and they let me stay for free.
However, in the new place, my phone was flicking on and off constantly. It was next to my head, but in the morning it had been set from silent, past vibrate to sound. It’s a flip phone, and this can only be done by opening it, pressing the buttons for the password, then changing it. I always leave it on silent.
When I unlocked my door the next morning (I sleep inside the van) the car alarm went off, which I believe means somebody jarred the door handles during the night.
Some people say ghosts work through electromagnetism or the likes. I’ve never thought too much about them, but I didn’t deny their existence.
I ended up working on a ranch a few towns away, which, after travelling through several States looking for work, felt rather close. I talked to a priest, we agreed it was a bad spirit (I believe in spirits, no doubt, I just don’t know how ghosts of people, even kind ones, fits into my Christian faith), and prayed. Nothing significant since.
I apologize for the length of this, and you could easily say that electronic devices are prone to malfunctions, but I don’t believe these all happened at the same time because of “coincidence.” If it was something electromagnetic with the area, explain the phone (and not my iPod) and only one door opening. Not thrilling, but real enough for me.

Okay have to share another, and yes this really happened to me.

Years ago I dated a young lady that happened to be a dancer at a topless bar I worked at. After a few months we broke up. Year later I found out she had my daughter without telling me she was pregnant. A couple years after that I was staying with my grandfather as my drug addict uncle and flipped out and broken grandpa's jaw. One evening he calls me down for a phone call from her. I say hello, she says the kids are fine and hangs up. I found out later she was killed by a drunk driver that evening but was the only one seriously hurt. My daughter and her son were okay.

And, a shorter one: I was in a desert area, mesas and the like. It was a town abandoned during the Dust Bowl, way out in the middle of nowhere, but a few ranches clung on for some time.
I went through a ranch home that made it to around 2005, judging from some magazines.
Shirts were still in the closet, food still in the refrigerator, and family photos and film all over the floor. The pack rats had not been kind to the place.
I walked around the corrals outside, with a squeaking wind mill.
My friend, waiting at the car, started to walk over from where it was parked a hundred feet or more away. I met him and we turned back to the car.
I asked why he came over, and he says he heard me talking with somebody, that there were voices. It was daytime, incredibly quiet and only a very faint breeze. I suspected it was the wind mill, but he was adament. He firmly denies the existence of spirits or even God.
I never felt anything in that house except supreme sorrow for that persons memory, with their belongings and photos there. Nothing ever felt out of place, and I treated the place with extreme respect. If I ever opened my mouth at all it was to whisper something to myself.
Another story that won’t blow your socks off, but it’s important to me. That house is in my thoughts often. I’d like to find some living relatives and ask if they’d take the photos. I don’t know how I feel about removing anything on my own, even if it is of the purest intentions. Looking at photos of people smiling with their kids, or out on vacation, it’s a hard thing to leave to the ravages of time. Any thoughts?
