I have been considering it. Have a 243 rifle with all the fixings that I just can’t seem to find any interest in. I feel I have it priced fair, but I’m not looking to give it away just can’t generate any sort of interest. Thought of taking it up to COPS or H and H and see about putting it on consignment. Anyone done this? How did it turn out for you? What do they charge?

I've done it a few times. I took it to Village Tactical and just told them to get what they think is best for it. I think they take 10% and write you a check for the balance. I'm comfortable taking whatever they can get. They do their best to get the biggest commission they can and it takes your emotions out of the deal. They know the value according to the market better than I do anyway.

Did you end up getting it sold pretty quick?

I've sold some at Murph's in Duncan. Same deal, 10% of the selling price, and some of them sold pretty quick, some took a while. The high-end and odd ball stuff never sold and I ended up just taking it back home. Wrong market for Murph's, I am not blaming them at all, they did a good job.

If I remember, the handguns sold faster than the rifles and shotguns, but it's been a while and by the time I picked up the check, a it didn't matter to me which sold first, just that it was sold.

Sooner may generate more people? I had a 308 Bolt gun at COPS for a few months and never got any hits. I think it depends on what the shops main focus in sales is. COPS would be AR's and Handguns. Not sure about the others

Ask about how they promote the firearm for sale, is it just in shop or do they put it on gunbroker? Village Tactical sold my father's glock 17 gen 1 on gunbroker, pretty quick.

Hope that was a LONG time ago because my understanding is Gen 1 glocks are worth gold nowadays.

Nope, a few months ago. I didn't ask him how much he got, I figured it was his business. The G17 was an early one when they wouldn't let anyone but LEOs buy them, his buddy was the OKC chief.

Yes, they move a ton of firearms on consignment. I've purchased two from them in the last month that were both on consignment.
