if I can figure out how to haul a 16 ft cattle panel to make tomato cages on my Toyota Rav4.
Don't make me come over there and show you how to toss one on the top of the vehicle and run straps through the opened doors.
If my Corolla can haul it your "suv" should have no issues. :)

Also I read that Edmond requires you to take a course to keep chickens. We do use a few containers to grow a few things like tomatoes and bell peppers. Wife tried carrots this year but the container was wrong for that. I plan to try zucchini and yellow squash next year if I can. Depends on if I can figure out how to haul a 16 ft cattle panel to make tomato cages on my Toyota Rav4. :rotflmao:

We found it cheaper to just sale shop. Every week I watch the sales that start on Wed at Aldi & Sprouts. When something we use is on sale we buy a little extra and when not, we buy just the basics. We shop Aldi every week because of their low prices on many things then one week we will shop Walmart too, the next week Crest foods. We also shop Sprouts when they have a good sale because most times they are over priced.
Get a roll of concrete wire to make tomato cages.

One of our members said that raising ducks for eggs is better/easier than nasty chickens. Some other members bought eggs from her and commented they were very good to eat so that is my contribution on that part.
I think she raises quail as well.
Another member has family that raises quail for eggs and maybe meat? I got some of their eggs. Loved them fried although they were tiny.

I haven't done it myself, but have heard that you can buy bulk food from the Latter Day Saints church. Not overpriced and good stuff. I checked once a few years ago and they had an OKC office at the time.
I do love chickens, I love eating them and their eggs, but I hate how nasty they are. I wouldn’t mind ducks, but if I’m not mistaken they need even more space than chickens and yeah, I think they do eat more. I think quail in a run/coop are a good fit. Gotta keep them away from the high prey drive small animal killing weenie dog, and next year when I get a hunting dog I’ll have to worry about prey drives twice over. On the other hand, our golden would probably want to be their friend.
I’ve looked into the LDS stuff. Seemed like a decent deal, but as a non member you can only buy some things, and a lot of it is sold out.

If you’re busy, I’ll take my ghetto Corolla over there and show him how to do it.
I’m not sure about taking those quail off your hands. I’m in the middle of a renovation and moving while selling the old house. I don’t have time for sleep at the moment. But if that changes, I’ll touch base. Or I could pay you for feed until then?

team raider all the way. never forget most people that own things own more than they could ever use, including property. it's all for the taking.

No HOA in my neighborhood. Live on the corner backed up to the street, so I Have one neighbor, who is the nicest lady ever and would probably lose her mind if I gave her a few cleaned quail every once in a while. Could easily pay off the neighbors across the street too, they love me as well. Edmond requires a class and a proper enclosure for chickens, no roosters allowed. I’ll check and see if there’s anything about quail.

You’re very right. I have 2 pharmacies, a vet, two grocery stores, and all the misc crap stores I could ever need within 1/2 mile of me. And from a defensible standpoint, all you gotta do is be friendly with the neighbors and make a plan, stake out your turf. Happens in third world countries all the time. It’s a lot harder to cover your 40 acres with the kids and wife.

Oh and a sweet park with a pond and more semi tame squirrels/waterfowl than you could eat. But this is all complete collapse kinda thinking.

all it takes is a little googling to realize the average age of the average land/property owner for any address you want. it's very easy to see most stuff is owned by very old people who simply have way more than they can defend. there's really not that much need to stock up your personal supplies if you are willing to raid.

he who strikes first will set himself up nicely. waiting will be huge mistake.
