Hate to disappoint everyone with a non-political post, but.....

I want to update/remodel my fireplace and looking for any suggestions or experience with any local sellers. I'll be replacing my current gas/wood box with a dedicated gas fireplace with logs. I also want to add stone/tile to the wall as well as on the floor in front of the fireplace and add a new mantle, something with a floating live edge look to it.

We went to Rick's House of Fire and looked over their units. Seemed like a nice setup they proposed, it was a 25K BTU Fireplace Xtrordinair unit. They don't do tile work but have subs they use.

I was only able to get a cost window and it was pretty wide, anywhere from $5K - $7K for install, which does not include any tile work or electrician work for the lights and gas hookup. I can do the tile work, but have a tendency to be a bit slow to get things past the finish line so was looking at installers for that but have not had any luck finding one through word of mouth. Previous guy I've used is out as well as two guys he pointed me toward.

- Any input on Rick's? Prices about as expected or prices kind of high?
- Any other dealers/installers around town worth talking with for this? Looking for a place with a showroom..
- Any suggestions for a tile installer? It would be wall and floor.

Thanks.

I've used Mark Daniel to install my fireplace and put in a wood stove in my shop. Not sure what's up with the website though.

Was checking into inserts for the fireplace and Rick's was about double what the Hearth Shop in Moore was, Don ( I think was his name) was super helpful even though the wife didn't like the way it would of looked and we didn't get one.

I have a gas log set. When I bought my house the one that was there when we moved in sucked. It was a cheap made piece of crap. We purchased this set Empire Sassafras Ventless Gas Log Set | Woodland Direct.
It looks amazing and puts out a ton of heat. We have the 18” set. I installed it myself. Not hard at all. I went to ricks and another place and it was gonna cost over $2000 to get the same log set and to have it installed. Thankfully I looked online. As for the front of our fireplace, we did the stone work ourselves. Lowes sells these sheets of stone that have double sided tape and they are extremely easy to install. They have held up great over the last two years. Here is a picture of the old log set and then our new one. Also is pictures of what the front of our fireplace looked like before and after the tile job.

The hearth shop tried to rip me off big time.

I am very pleased with my Xtrodinar from Rick’s. Great fire box that produces more heat than you’ll likely need.
I had one installed with a room addition around 3 yrs ago. The other was installed around 18 yrs ago and still going strong.
pic of the recent install.

That's part of my issue, Rick's seemed to have the only coherent website to view. Not much of an online presence for most others I've found with a search.

I searched for him, you're right, website is a bit.... gone.

We're looking at whole new fireplace, not just the log set but thanks for the link.

What was your total cost - if you don't mind? You can PM me if you prefer. Your pic is very similar to what we're looking to get done, did you use their stone guy or have your own picked out?

Gotcha. They do have complete fireboxes as well. Let us know what you end up doing.

Here, but occasionally There.
While I can't help with references for a complete changeover from wood to gas, our son purchased a gas set, and I think it was at Rick's House of Fire where he bought it. His fireplace already had gas plumbed in, if for no other reason than for starting.

The wife and I were the first to really check it out during a cold spell when the water at our RV home froze up. We spent a night or two at his new house before he got moved in.

I have a gas line in the firebox but I also burn wood in it so it's not quite a complete changeover, gas is already there.

Did they also install? Good looking fire, I'm assuming you enjoyed it.
