Is the swallow an adult or juvenile? You forgot about the average wind speed of an unladen Swallow.
Has it had its feathers ruffled lately?

The big question is where is it flying to? If it is in flight at one of the poles the rope may ice up and become heavier. Then it would hang more in a vertical position.
I remember a question in woodworking class in school.
sandpaper used for.
A. Finish work.
B. Shaping
C. I do not remember and D. I do not remember but it was not all the above.
I circled A and B and teacher told me I got it wrong.
And said it is for Finish work.
I told him I use it to shape things all the time and he told me to prove it.
I told him I shape bass plugs with sandpaper.
I brought one into the class early for him and I had built the plug from a broom stick and shaped the plastic bill with
sandpaper also.
He hung it on the stuffed bass he had on the wall behind his desk.
He also changed the answer in the book.
I wonder how many people argued the answer in all his years of teaching.
Now where is my Helicopter.
I'm posting another debate in another thread from the same Veritasium website.
Can a wind powered vehicle going downwind, (with the wind) move faster than the wind?
Watch the video if you want or guess or do your own calculations and answer yes or no.
