Went out yesterday morning. Tried to sit as long as I could, but I was COLD! lol. I got up and started roaming around looking for a big 8pt I seen the morning before. I spotted this buck through the woods and felt like I only had a few seconds to shoot because wind was blowing right towards it. I got the camera on it and took the shot. Once I walked up on it I pretty much instantly regretted pulling the trigger. I thought this may have been the big 8 I seen the day before, but it wasn't. This is a pretty young buck and I'm a little ashamed of myself for shooting it. I really with I would have waited. Oh well, I got some backstraps to throw on the grill now and I can put all my focus on getting my youngest son a deer now.

No need to be ashamed. I bet he taste great and to my mind, the meat is far more important than the rack. If I am not mistaken, isn't younger venison more tender than older?
Young deer are much better as in a different league, I have tried boiling horns for several days and they still came out tough.
