I have had Simplisafe for years. Very easy to install and monitoring is not expensive. I also have had for years the Blink camera system. I not only use it for security but to also just monitor. I have a barn that is monitored on the system as well as outside cameras for perimeter security. The battery powered cameras have a good range.....up to 200-300 feet for me.

The good part about Ring and Simplisafe is that they're both wireless and the entry sensors can be mounted with the supplied double-stick tape, so there are no screw holes or wires to run (IIRC, the supplied stuff is 3M Command Adhesive, so it'll come off without leaving residue or tearing up the wall). The Simplisafe system was installed in my house, so I used screws and can't comment on the long-term effectiveness of the adhesive, but the sensors are light, so it should be OK.
My Alert360 has wireless sensors. Mine have been up for 5 years and none have came off. The tape is pretty darn strong.

We have the Arlo camera system which I can't recommend. I just wasted an hour live chatting with their people in India for nothing. About 10 minutes in the beginning, they needed a camera serial number. By the time I logged into my account to get it, they dropped my chat. I needed camera footage from 10-22-21 to verify if UPS made a delivery to my house like they claim. We never got the item. This is the second time we didn't get an item that UPS claimed they delivered. The Arlo guy said that after 30 days the footage is automatically erased. I asked if it was possible to get because I needed it to solve a possible crime and he said no. It should not have taken an hour to find that out. I know there are people that can recover deleted computer files so I thought if I could have talked to a person in the US I might have had a chance to get the footage. I think from now on I'll try to buy products that have a support phone number hopefully in the US. As far as SimpliSafe goes, the inside motion detectors are worthless if you have cats in the house. Cats climb on everything.

I have 2 Arlo Go cameras. One for my off grid hunting cabin one to monitor my "package box" at my gate some 400' from the house. I've had both for 3 or 4 years now....never an issue.

My son had installed a Simply-Safe system and some form of doorbell camera. One of the shipping companies had posted that his delivery had been made. When he told them that there was nothing there, they sent him a picture showing the picture at a front door. He sent back a photo of HIS front door and told them that his door didn't look like the door in their picture.

Don't know if that was ever resolved.

Our alarm is the Alert 360 Guardian system. Is really good. We also have 15 cameras outside that see everything day and night and record all movement 24/7 with capacity to store up to 4 weeks of consistent recordings. I would love to have a thief sensing gatling gun on the roof.
HA! I don't have 15 areas of our place to put cameras. Not even half that. That's a lot of coverage you got.

A lot to consider in this thread. We are also looking at security cameras. Thanks for the information.
For security cameras indoors, I like the simplisafe too, but outdoors their camera won't cut it. I like the Dahua IPC-HFW5442T-AS-LED. It has stellar night vision and it's very tough in the elements. It's hardwired though so you'll have to buy a bunch of cat 5/cat6 cable and run it out, but it's worth every penny.
