Looks like it's Venables to OU....

Yeah a tough nosed defensive guy is exactly what they need heading into SEC play. Being at Clemson and beating the Alabama's he also knows the type of players he need to recruit to win.
I agree. With the possible OC they are looking at. Should make the start of a good coaching staff.

I still just find it weird that SO MANY Sooner fans couldn't wait for Venables to get out of town, and now want him back.
It’s not like people disliked him as a person or he was accused of wrongdoing, it was just perceived job performance. During his last few years as OU’s DC, the defense wasn’t very good. That’s ultimately on the DC, so it’s not a big stretch to think that the poor performance was because he wasn’t doing a very good job. The fact that his subsequent defenses at Clemson did very well made a lot of folks realize that he wasn’t the problem with OU’s defense, so why wouldn’t they want him back?

Glad it’s Venables, I agree we need the defensive mindset heading to the SEC. Also he is supposedly a great recruiter which we lost when Riley left

Oh I know, no one ever suggested he was a bad person, but there was a very strong sentiment that he was a bad coach. The Sooners message board I read had a weekly "Fire Brent Venables" thread for probably two years.

I get it. I just think it's funny.

I guess Venables had no loyalty either...
