Stamped on the backside metal where it screws into the electrical box. Have to remove to see manufacturer, which was easy to see and the country where made was not very easy.

all the wires were looped and attached with screws. The body was either whole or in pieces. One had melted parts.

Heat like that is generated by poor connections, be it wiring connections or faulty internals that give poor connection which appears to be your case.
I worked industrial manufacturing electronics/electrical and later in the power industry doing controls work that involved electrical.
I’ve seen 200 amp 480V cartridge fuses burn completely in half without blowing the fuse element. All because the fuse holders had lost tension. It only takes a couple ohms of resistance in a connection to generate hundreds of degrees of heat.
Always advise to buy the best and know how to use connectors (wire nuts) correctly.
It’s not worth losing a home to save a buck on cheap electrical supplies.

Most service mains are aluminum wires!

And the ground strips in the breaker boxes are aluminum!

There is a goo in a tube your supposed to use in the aluminum to keep it from oxidizing!

Cant remember the name of the goo. Pretty sure Square D makes it
