Lots of good info. Now OSA, I guess I need led in the right direction on where to find a good selection of LCR’s and what a good price is… my local gun shop had the .22lr LCR at $600 but I think y’all are right. Maybe a .22 isn’t the best idea.

I’d like to try to find a .327 FedMag if I could. Especially if I could find the other calibers for it somewhat easily and not break the bank.

How difficult and expensive is it to find ammo for all those .32 calibers mentioned in this thread? These days, my firearms choices are largely driven by those two factors.

I know absolutely nothing about the .327 Mag, so I can't help you there. But what I do know is that I have been a Smith and Wesson guy all my life, with the mighty J frame and K frame being my favorites of the lot. I've owned more Jaybirds than any other revolver, but I'll go on record saying that the Ruger LCR is a better revolver than the Smith and Wesson J frame in .38 caliber. If they could just fix that damned rattle.

100 grain 32 long wadcutters hit to the sights on my LCR and have very little recoil. They are as available as anything these days. Just 2-3 times the price they were. Very economical round to reload though. Same availability issues apply.

As far as finding one. You just have to keep checking your lgs, gun.deals and/or gunengine. They are in short supply but come up occasionally. Anything under $600 is a decent deal these days.

I would not recommend buying any caliber that the ammo is hard to find.
Speaking from experience.
Go with common, on the shelf, stocked ammo calibers and you're good.
The wild exotic calibers are a hard no for me, just my .02

I would tend to agree, especially for a non enthusiast. .32 is a great caliber for a small revolver but, unfortunately, ammo isn’t as readily available in local stores. I handload and cast for it so that is largely immaterial to me. But is something to consider, for sure.

A .357 LCR or other small steel frame revolver is something else to consider. I wouldn’t actually get any magnum loads for it. Being heavier it makes all the difference in shootability. 38 special wadcutters again for low recoil. .38 special isn’t as easy to shoot as the .32 but it is, in better times, more available and varied.
